Question about Computers & Internet

I live in an 8 unit condo complex and they can all get on the internet using my portal. Last I knew I do not have a WEP key so my question is can they get into my computer information off my router since I am not secured?

Potentially, yes. Secure your router by adding in a WEP code. Secure your computer with a firewall, and don't share out hard drives etc..

Why does my dryer smell like rotten cabbage?

I would suspect your "green" concoction got into the lint that "lives" inside the machine. Unbeknown to you, dryers have a lot of lint inside that is never cleaned, it just builds up.
In the last 20 dryers I have repaired, about 10 had a shoe-box or two full of lint inside.
Perhaps the mixture you added made mildew or mold accidentally in the lint nest.
Also, if you are in a complex and you'all have shared exhaust, perhaps it is someone elses problem.
You could take your dryer completely off the circuit and close off the "shared" vent system.
Then , see if that makes any difference.
I suppose you could also try to run your dryer inside your condo for 5 minutes to see if the smell is coming from your dryer when it is not hooked up to anyone elses.
If the smell is from yours, you will need to completely dismantle your machine to get every trace of lint and smell out.
God bless your efforts.

Find wep key 3347nwg -006

Try Password: admin, 1234, serial number of unit (written underneath)

Or you could connect to it with a Ethernet Cable and open web browser and go to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.1.254 and you can access settings from there and change WEP password.

Last resort, just use the reset button on the unit.

I try to make my radio connect to the internet and when i say that i have a wireless connection and i type in my wireless passkey it accepts it but when it tries to connect it says it is unable to get IP.

I had this problem. Let me give some background. I was listening to my radio, to an internet radio station. There was a power surge/blip - a big thump. My radio is in the bedroom and the computer and router are in the living room. The power surge didn't even restart the computer or router, but the radio stopped playing the streaming station. I restarted the radio and it would not get an ip. I restarted the computer, router, and also my netbook that connects wirelessly. The netbook connected to the router and got an ip using the existing WEP key. I reset the radio and re-entered the WEP key into the radio setup and it still would not get an ip. I unplugged the radio and let it sit for a while hoping it would reset. Started the radio back up, entered the WEP key and still it did not get an ip. I went into my router software thru the computer and it actually showed the radio as an unassigned guest (or some weird nomenclature), so I knew the radio was connecting to the router it just wasn't getting an ip. So I went into the router manual setup function and re-entered the WEP key (the same key that I have been using). Before I exited the router maintenance program I looked at status and it had already assigned an ip to the radio. So somehow the power surge corrupted the WEP key data in the router. I went back into the bedroom and hit the OK button on the radio to "request an ip" and it connected immediately. So I am sorry for the long answer, but this may help someone in the same situation. I know in the future that if I run into this type of problem, that I will first re-enter the WEP key thru the manual setup in the router first!!! Thanks.

Where can i find my wep key

Your WEP key is the password on your wireless internet connection.

Whomever set up your wireless internet connection (wifi) should be able to provide the WEP key for you.

Need wpa key for xbox live

WPA key is your Wireless router key for internet access.
To connect your console to wireless internet and go to Xbox Live you must enter WPA key for your wireless router.

It`s a same key than you use to connect your Notebook, cellular phone, etc. to your home network.

I neeed the password for dlink router

Well, you cannot get the wep key unless you have 1 pc that is wired into port 1 on that router. If you are wired to port 1, log in to the router and go to wireless, and look for wireless security. there you can change or remove wep keys. If you cannot log in, then you should reset the router and contact dlink to have an expert guide you through setup. Wep keys are not needed if you live in an open area, but if you live in a close knit housing area or in an apartment complex, they are a good idea to keep other people from stealing your bandwidth. In my own case I had a wp key for awhile, but decided that i would remove it and just use an open wifi. My signal is not strong enough to reach more than 30 yards, so unless you are parked beside my house you cannot get my signal. That is usually good, but sometimes I wish I had internet at my neighbors house, ha ha.

Internet connection

If you are worried that it is a Hacker then do not use WEP. Use WPA and do not use only words use symbols and numbers. But this seems like you have a router that is going bad. I would try resetting it to factory settings by opening internet explorer and typing in the box where you enter web addresses type 192.168.1.200 or 192.168.1 then you will find your router setup page and you will be able to reset your router to the factor settings. Another thing about securing your connection is that you must not use a WEP inscription and your WPA or WPA2 access code must not be only a word it must include other character e.g. #@$%^&*
Good Luck

HP laptop not recognizing Linksys Wireless B Security Key..

The WEP encryption is consist of 10 characters for 64 bit hex, 128 bit hex is 24 characters and WPA is 8 to 63 characters. So it seems that you have a vista computer? The compatible encryption for vista is WPA, sometime using WEP it is not working properly. So I might advise you to access the configuration of your router (192.168.1.1) and change the wireless settings of your router to WPA-Personal.

Laptop

you need a WEP key i'm guessing you're trying to say. go to a browser, type in the address bar http://192.168.0.1 and then login. the defult login name is either user or admin. the defulte password is either password or 12345. after logging in, find the menu that says wireless. from there you can either disable the WEP key, or write down the WEP key and type that into your laptop when it tries to connect. disabling the WEP key brings down your internet local security, but is not a problem is you don't live too close to anyone
