Has anybody configured Reliance Datacard - USB on ubuntu 9.04? Kindly give me step by step procedure for configuration? Regards, Moiz

Hi,

First use the following command to see if your card is being detected by kernel.

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

Then you can use the following script for the installation, you can check if this is for your version of Ubuntu.

#!/bin/bash

#This program automates task of setting up connection for Reliance USB Card on Ubuntu Hardy Heron. This program does not come with any warranty whatsoever. Please use it at your own risk.

# Detect Modem
echo "Modem Detected: $(lsusb | grep -i huawei | cut -d" " -f7-)"

# Get Connection Number from User
echo "Enter Your Reliance Data Card Connection Number : "
read connection
echo "Setting up connection with $connection"

#Install Gnome PPP Package
echo "Installing Required Packages.."
sudo apt-get install -y -q gnome-ppp wvdial

#Add entries to /etc/ppp/ppp-secrets and /etc/ppp/chap-secrets
echo "I:Modifying necessary system files to allow dialing with Gnome PPP..."
sudo chmod 666 /etc/ppp/pap-secrets /etc/ppp/chap-secrets
echo "$connection * $connection" >> /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
echo "$connection * $connection" >> /etc/ppp/chap-secrets
sudo chmod 600 /etc/ppp/pap-secrets/etc/ppp/chap-secrets

#Start Gnome PPP
echo "We are all set.... "
echo "Starting Dialer..."
gnome-ppp &
exit 0

I want the driver for huawei fwt wireless modem

I'm giving you two links to download the drivers for Huawei fwt wireless mode

1- http://www.openpages.info/huawei.html and

2- https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wvdial/+question/43266

You will probably need to edit the wvdial.conf file a little so that you are using the right connection parameters for your internet service.
If those URL's did not help, please follow this procedure:
Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications->Accessories->
Terminal"
Step 2: Run the following commands (copy-paste each line below to the Terminal then hit <enter> after each line)
ifconfig
sudo lshw -C network
lspci -nn
lsusb
uname -a
dmesg | grep USB
Step 3: Post results (cut/paste terminal output from each command) here
Step 4: Provide us with the full model and make of Huawei modem. What is the exact model number? Does it connect to the PC using a serial-to-USB converter?

Cdma 1x tata indicom usb modem problem

If it immediately stops responding, I'd be tempted to think it may be related to antivirus or antispam software.

If you just recently installed something like it, uninstall it.

If it worked recently (a few days ago) you could try to do a system restore to reset the configuration (will not lose data files)

Start - programs - accessories - system restore - restore to a previous date

Try to select a date just far enough back when you knew it worked (as few days back as possible)

Facing ploblem while using TATA indicom USB modem in Vista Home Basic

Hi I'm Sathiya. I use Windows Vista Home Basic platform. I recently bought a TATA Indicom Plug to Surf connection. It had issues with drivers. I went to Tata indicom site and downloaded the latest driver for Vista. After installing the drivers, my connection is working fine. Make sure that you choose the right version.

Windows Vista CDMA 1X usb modem not working

I faced the same problem i installed it. But got through it. See if this works for you too:

1. You have to install the software you downloaded from the tata site or from the CD you got with the MODEM. Do this without attaching the MODEM to the laptop.

2. Once done, insert the MODEM into the USB drive. The Windows will automatically search drivers for USB MODEM and QualCoMM drivers and install it.

After it shows the success message, click the Tata Indicom Dialer and check. The problem should not appear again.
