Question about Brother MFC 420CN All-In-One InkJet Printer
I just bought a Brothers mfc-240c printer but it will not print color pictures when I sent them from Paint Shop Pro 6.0. It prints color fine from other software like PRint Master. Do I need a new driver or an updated version of Paint Shop Pro? Paint Shop Pro has always worked with my other printers.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: MFC 440cn, lost mfl pro suite
The advice given so far is not entirely accurate.
On the Brother Wesbsite:
Select the downloads link.
When searching for your download
make sure you have "ALL" selected
Step 2 and 3 are self explanatory
Hit the search button and then you are looking for the download that says "full software and driver package".
Install as directed.

Here's what you need to download:
Upper right side, downloads and support, click Downloads/FAQs/Help and more.
From the drop down in the middle of the page, select:
Multi-Function Center (MFC and DCP series)
Select model MFC-290C, click View Support Information
Then click MFC-290C Downloads on our Online Solution Center
Select Drivers, pick your operating system, then your language, then Search.
Download the Full Driver & Software Package and you should be good to go. :)

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.
This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart, try this step by step.without missing any thing. thanks

You probably have a plugged print head or the black ink feed is plugged.
Depending on how bad it is you may find it easier or even cheaper to replace the printer.
If this is a ink caused problem you stand a chance of fixing it if you are patient but you might go through half an ink cartridge to get it working, If it is stubborn it can take 20 or 30 cleaning cycles before you see any black. You can try using household vinegar (dissolves the dried ink) on a qtip or lint free paper towel to try to clean the print head. To do this you remove the ink cartridge and very gently rub the towel with the vinegar on the print head. This might require you to move the print head to one side so you can see the actual print area (where the ink comes out). Keep doing this until the towel starts to come clean ie not as much ink coming off. Then run a few print cycles and if this works your printer will print as good as the first day you had it.
The next stage would require filling a old clean ink cartridge with vinegar and running cleaning cycles. Usually can be pretty messy and you should rethink buying a new printer but will really clean things out.
It is also possible that the print head has picked up clay or paper lint from the paper and this has hardened like a cement. That means replacement.
