Question about RCA 27V530T 27" TV

HELP!!!!! My sound stopped working and the volume setting won't even show up when I try to the volume up or down. I have tried it with cable hooked up to the tv and also with a DVD/VCR player and without. When I press the menu button it doesn't show up either but the channel setting is working fine and the tv turns on and off and the picture is still great. HELP

Re: HELP!!!!!

If the problem happens when you use your remote, you have some bad buttons on it. If you can't adjust the sound from the front control panel then you have a problem inside your tv. If this is so then you'd need to have it checked out by a technician. Stargazer

Closed caption won't turn off on Zenith B25A24W

Most cable or sat boxes have this option also---check there if you have not done so.

A few sets will default the CC when volume is off or way down also.

Volume display at zero but volume still loud

If you are using a cable box it has volume controls as well--if so turn sound down there.

If that does not work try hooking a DVD etc to a rear input to see if volume on that input works normally.

The box can malfunction and if unplugged (set is not likely but possible also) and then plugged back in both the set and box if used will reboot.

Cannot get audio to come on

Obvious first just in case, check mute and volume level. Make sure all cables are secure, each set of volume connections is tied to a particular view setting. go through the different inputs and see if sound is tied to a different input. Try hooking up another sound device and seeing if another device gets sound. (an I.pod can even be connected via a 3.5mm cable.)
Go through all this troubleshooting and you may solve your problem and learn some things about your monitor.
Note, In audio Properties there is an option to turn speakers off, make sure to verify that as well

Volume decreases by itself

maybe defective speaker or audio output ic or shorted capacitor within audio circuit

No Sound Issues

Try the audio out. Run the audio to a receiver to see if the audio is there. If it is, then I'd leave it hooked up to the receiver and save yourself some money. If there is not any low level audio out then I'd fix the set. The only Sony set I've ever seen that was not worth fixing was a 32" model from the early 1990's that had bad picture tubes after only 5 years. I am a Sony factory trained tech. Good Luck!

Orion tv model 1934 only 3, 4 and aux no pic or sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turn the set on, hook the cable directly to the TV, take the remote control and press 1 - 1 and if the TV tunes in channel 11 then your set is fine. If the TV was autoprogrammed when hooked to a cable box then the only channels that will be stored in memory are 3, maybe 4 and AUX. To correct this simply go back into the menu and look for the "autoprogram" option and perform the autoprogram while the cable is directly connected to the TV, without a cable box.

Too loud

I am assuming you do not have a "surround sound" system hooked up to your digital cable box, and that you have your TV volume turned down all the way and have not yet tried to adjust the volume on your new digital cable box. It might be worth a try to unplug your TV for about 15 seconds and try again. If the above is true and you can still not lower the volume through the cable box or the TV set, then I would have the cable people stop by to check it out.
