You need to check for 24 volts across the gas valve as the ignitor glows. If you get it, it is a bad gas valve. If there is no voltage or strange voltage, replace the control board.

Mine was a composite problem.
Problem #1 - the ignitor, which to the best of my knowledge was 12 years old, didn't ignite anymore (wouldn't get hot).
I replaced that and then had this problem.
I checked the voltage and after a few tries I saw the voltage go up to about 25V for about half a second.
I ended up disconnecting the gas valve terminals and reconnecting a few times, and that seems to have made the trick - bad contacts after 12 years of service.
All in all I paid $60 for the igniter (the new nitride kind) from a local repair person (paid a little extra and avoided waiting for it to be shipped).
I definitely learned a little bit about these things!

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the flame sensor. if you look in the furnace, there are two burn tubes - one has the ignitor and the other will have the flame sensor - it looks like a little rod with a wire coming out of the top end. i readjusted the position of the sensor and turned the air/fuel mixture on the burn tube to burn more fuel than air. it seemed to solve the problem.

We need to change the heat exchanger for my Goodman Heat Furnace model no.-GMP 075-3

Not an easy task! Take many pictures as well as draw out and mark which wire went where. You will have to remove everything from inside the cabinet to get to the heat exchanger. It may be easier to replace the furnace. If you are paying a professional to do the exchange, figure three hours if they have done it before, if not figure 5 to 6.

I can't find any info on my Goodman furnace. It's a GMP and the model number on the front of it doesn't match any goodman model numbers G2FD036S17A......I'm lost

Take the top panel off and on the inside of the left side of furnace as you are facing it should have a nameplate rating.

The nameplate rating should have the model number and serial number of the actual unit that you have.
It will list BTUS/Electrical Amps.

Furnance will not come on

No Blink? no call for heat. Check thermostat. Jump out thermostat. Check the fuse in the cabinet as well as in the breaker box. Do you have an emergency switch that may have been turned off? Make sure the door interlock switch is closed and working.

I don't know where you are located, but there is a Goodman distributor in Sacramento, CA. Also in Ontario CA. They are a distributor so they may be able to help you or tell where to find someone who will help. Goodman is also known as GMC or Janitrol.
