Got 4 of these 2 work on all channels and 2 work on diff freq's how do I clone these to match the other 2?? I know I'll need a cable but dond know the correct buttons to press to start the cloning !! any help on this one ??
Ok. I have looked through the service manual for both the 2160 and 3160 and can not find anything that indicates that you can clone with just a cloning cable and not use software. However the 2170 and 3170 say to turn the power on While pressing the B button which yours doesn't have. Try turing on the radio while pressing any one of the side buttons. Hope this helps. P.S. The software is reasonably easy to get and IS much easier to use.. dan

there are to many options to solve, And to few information given by you
1 first turn on the sound knob (most likely)
2 read the channels of you're equipment and those of you're friends
software is all over or use an old radioscanner or freq counter.
3 put new software in all the equipmant. Easiest way
There is no way you will be able to unlock your radio. If you are lucky and the dealer left the "Cloning" Option checked in programmation you *should* be able to clone it with your other TK-7160 with a Cloning Cable.
If this does not work, you'll need to contact Kenwood and by Serial # they will tell you who was the original dealer. Then, contact the dealer and ask for the PW or maybe they'll unlock it for you for 20$-30$.
If the dealer is not the last person who put a PW in the unit, kenwood will have to do it. (~80$-100$.)
