I want to instal a windows XP SP3 on Foxconn 915 series with north bridgegrantsdale G-i915G with a IDE H.D.D (pata) and sata O.D.D,it seems that i need a floppy disk for raid driver, but i lost motherboard...

There are a couple options.
  • Check in BIOS to see if your motherboard supports IDE emulation mode. If it does turn it on and XP will install just fine.
  • Download and read about using nlite to incorporate sata drivers into an Windows XP installation disc. (You will need another working computer. Download nlite and insert the XP disc run nlite and select your CD as your windows install file location. Download generic sata drivers, intel has a bunch you can get for free. In the nlite menu to add drivers select folder option and select the folder with the drivers. Set anything else you want in nlite and burn the new XP disc. This disc will install just fine as it now has sata drivers.
Comment if you need further instruction.

Tip

Couldn't find Harddisk while downgrade to XP? Follow this.

First download nlite:

You can download it from here:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Download the most recent version(You must have .Netframework 2 or higher installed) for the software to work.

You can download the .netframework3.5 from here:(if needed)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&displaylang=en

Install Nlite,
Insert the Windows XP Set cd, and copy all the files in the cd to a folder say WindowsXP in any drive but say d:

Now run installed nlite, Select the folder d:\WindowsXP\(As per my example).
After Next, Select the options
-Drivers
-Bootable ISO
Next Again
Now you will given to integrate the drivers:
First you need to download the SATA drivers & follow a bit instruction here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3387995&docname=c00758841

and integrate the drivers into the cd in nlite( you also add other drivers like audio etc if needed)

Create Image or burn to cd/dvd directly and boot from or dvd
Install windows xp and install the other drivers you can search for the drivers in your manufacture website.

Hard disk not detected in bios or in window setup

Method 1 : Go to BIOS and set anything with SATA disable (usually find under Advance Setting).

Save the setting and reboot.

Windows Xp will detect your hard drive now.

Method 2 : This days BIOS comes with only few thing to configure.if that's is the case.
Download SATA driver, here is the link

http://download.cnet.com/SATA-Driver-Intel-Ver-7-0-0-1020-zip/3000-2122_4-162224.html

you need one more software called "nlite" in order to integrate the SATA driver in Windows XP CD so that it recognize SATA drives.

Here is the link for nlite download

To install xp over preinstall vista in Toshiba satellit A200, some soultaion is aviable 1. to disable sata but how to disable sata in toshiba no option is aviable in in toshiba Bios. plz help me

There are case where BIOS stting doesn't contain any point of configuration for SATA.,

Step 1 : Download SATA driver

Here is the link :
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/12474/eng/iata621_enu.exe&agr=N&ProductID=2101&DwnldId=12474&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang=eng

Step 2 : Download a software called "nlite"

Here is the link :
http://home.midmaine.com/~nlite/nlite/nLite-1.4.9.1.installer.exe

Now you need to include SATA driver with Windows XP cd so that windows XP recognize your HARD DRIVE.it can't be include diectly so

Installed the nlite software and follow the instruction by going to the link below.

http://www.nliteos.com/guide/part1.html

Note : Microsoft dotnet framework 2.0 or later is needed to install nlite in Windows XP,but if you are making a bootable Windows XP cd with sata driver pre-install then, you don't need it.

This will 100% recognize your SATA HARD DRIVE.

Hope it will solve your problem.

burn the ISO disc and boot from cd rom and get it repair it automatically.

if you want to installed windows XP or 98;the reason why your hard disk could not be detected is your hard drive is SATA. disable any sata setting in your BIOS IDE configuration( if setting is not available then download SATA driver and Nlite ;make a bootable windows xp disc  with SATA driver pre installed .

How can i install a 320GB sata II hd using Win XP without that jurassic 1.44 damned Disk ?

You can slipstream the drivers from the floppy into an ISO image of the Windows XP installation CD using a program like nLite.
You can then burn the slipstream ISO image into a CD & use it to boot & install Windows XP without the need to use the floppy disk.

You can download nLite at the following link:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
After downloading the installer, install the program & start using it.

The following link describes how to use nLite to slipstraem the SATA drivers into the Windows XP installation CD.

I tried this myself, & it worked without problems. I now no longer need to use the floppy drive when installing Windows XP on my system.

Installing windows xp on Eee PC 900 what a nightmare

Here is the web site that explains this:
http://www.eeeguides.com/2007/11/installing-windows-xp-from-usb-thumb.html

I tried this on my laptop when my cd drive was non-functioning. You have to have another pc with a functioning cd drive and a XP cd. I didn't follow any instructions for using nLite ( not sure what it is anyway ) and when I followed all the instructions, I was able to boot from the USB stick and install XP without a hitch.

You do not have SATA drivers on the disk
Download "driverspack" one word from here
http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/

the Driverpack massstorage one
Download "Nlite" install it
You may have to get someone to do it for you
copy your Windows CD to hard drive and insert driverpack into the driver section of it
then burn to another CD
"Nlite is easy to use just read instructions

Help me to install WinXP in a Gateway Laptop that came with SATA HDD

you have probably already fixed this but maybe others can find this a little helpful. i had to downgrade a gateway ma7 for one of my customers who had lost their recovery cd with vista on it. Their HD had gone bad.

The reason the XP installer says "no HD" is because the the drivers required by the gateways Sata controller (hd controller) are not preloaded on the xp install disc. The only way around this is to download the windows xp compatible sata drivers from gateways website and then slipstream them into a custon windows xp install cd. its actually not as difficult as it sounds. just download the sata driver, a slipstreaming program called nlite.

1 download and install nlite
2 put in your xp install cd, and run nlite, when nlite asks, browse to the i386 folder (your installation files)
3 you will have lots of options to choose from, but for this purpose, choose "add drivers" and select the location of the gateway drivers (c:\cabs\something) i think.
4 finish and burn the cd. then use it to install windows xp.

this little guide isnt step by step, but with a little trial and error you should get by
