Question about Sony Handycam DCR-DVD403 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Sony DCR-DVD403 camcorder - picture won't focus. E:61:10 error.

My camcorder fell off our dining room table onto carpet. Now the picture won't focus at all when I try to record, and I get an E:61:10 blinking error message in the top right-hand corner of the screen. The lens opens fine and the camcorder will play back recorded videos okay. My daughter's school concert is coming up, so I need a solution fast. Please help. Thanks!

I found my answer! Visit http://www.pechorin.com/m/2004/03/07/Son... for the solution. Apparently, a lot of other people have the same issues with Sony camcorders. 2 good smacks with the your hand on the BACK of the camera takes away the error message, and my camera now works fine. Autofocus is working again!

E61:10 is a lens error code. You have a bad lens unit, but sometimes they can be fixed. The focus and zoom motor worm drives on the zoom lens jam when they get dropped. If your really really carfull you can free them up and fix the lens. Thereis a plastic claw that rides along the worm drive shaft that can get jamed. I've fixed thousands of these but i'm a guru. It can be tricky.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

Sony DCR-dvd403 will not work on battery power anymore. Only on AC power

Maybe you need a new battery: if does it turn on when is plugged only the battery and it will stay on for only a bit or when you try to record it turns off the problem is only of the exhausted battery.

Format error on disc on handy camcorder

I found a program called "inDisc Recovery" that located the lost VOB file, and saved it to my computer. You put the dvd-r in your computer drive, run the program and then look under "deleted" folder

Format Error

First option would be to attempt to read the disk in another DVD player, for example on a PC. If that succeeds then transferring the data can be done via the PC. Another thing to try is to reset your Camcorder - refer to the manual to locate the switch and then try again. If neither works then re-formatting is probably the only answer. Always format the disks in the camcorder - not elsewhere.Good luck.

Lens Cover will not open or close

OMG! I had the same issue and blew on the lens. To easy to be true, but it worked! I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I turned the camcorder on and off several times, and it worked every time! Sure beats the $341 Sony was going to charge to fix it!!!!
