Try hooking the illumination wire to the accessory wire. Eclipse decks used to be really picky. That just might do the trick.

My stereo is not coming on.. the time will illuminate when i press the display button and the lights behind the buttons will come on but will not turn on.. the cd will eject as well but thats it..

Sounds like the fuse for the switched power has blown. The stereo has two power inputs -- one unswitched, called "memory" because it lets the stereo remember your presets, and one switched, just called "power"

It should let you see the time, eject a CD, etc all when the car is turned off. Since the fuse for the main power line is blown, the stereo thinks the car is turned off all the time.

Connecting an MP3 player to car radio

The most common way is to use the auxiliary input of the deck or head unit. However I don't believe the JVC model you have has one of these. Don't despair though. Head to your local department store with a music department and pick up a universal FM modulator ($20-$30).

These will 'pretend' to be an FM radio station inside your vehicle. Attach the stereo mini plug to your walkman or other audio device (mp3 player etc.) Then tune the FM Radio to the fm station listed on the FM modulator and you will be able to listen to the device through your car stereo speakers. Now this isn't as clean as a direct hookup but for most its an economical way to listen to alternate sources on your Car Stereo.

I have a 1998 Chevrolet Prizm. It has a Delco

This is one of two things either the power amp in the unit is damaged or the speakers are not connected. Remove the unit and check all connections. if all are connected properly ,then you will have to check the speakers .if the speakers are okay the power amp in the unit is blown ,probably from not connecting the speakers correctly.
