Very strange. Usually the ac compressor cuts off if the computer detects a major problem with the engine such as a power loss on more than one cylinder. And if that happens the computer should store trouble codes for the issues. Is the check engine light staying on ? Will the ac work if the engine idles ?
The air conditioner runs off of the motor and takes a good deal of power away from it. I ALWAYS shut my air off when preparing to pass a vehicle or getting on an on ramp.Unless you have a diesel or a V 8 the air conditioner will affect your performance of the motor greatly.
Sounds like you have a fuel issue. It could be a fuel pump cutting in and out. It could be fuel pressure regulator, or an injector not spraying correct. I think it's time to find an honest educated repairman.
Has the check engine light gone on? The focus is going into 'limp' mode to avoid damage to components, due to some problem. Even if there is no check engine light illuminated, bring it to a parts store for a free check of any codes stored in the cars computer. You need this info to figure out what is wrong. If after having the parts store scan for codes you still have questions, re-post them with the codes here.
Sounds like your A/C compressor is not cycling off with the pressure cycling switch. The reason the system gets cold on hard acceleration is because your car is equipped with a wide open throttle A/C cutoff relay which turns off the compressor to reduce the load the compressor takes away from the engine.
Try to replace the pressure cycling switch that is located on the AC accumulator. (the black canister close to the passenger side firewall)...The switch can be replaced by unscrewing from the accumulator without refrigerant loss because a schrader (tire type) valve will stop refrigerant from leaking out. Hope this helps...
The water bubble under the dash might be a heater core, and the slow and sluggish might be caused by the transmission, try checking the wires and plugs, they may need to be replaced, we just changed out the wires and plugs on ours and it did wonders!
