My Edimax BR6214K keep hanging or working with reduced speed.

My Edimax BR6214K keep hanging once-twice a day or work with reduced speed. Usually a restart solve the problem for a half of a day. The system log is filled with same message:

Dec 9 11:58:52 (none) user.warn klogd: ^[[33;41mrtl8651_tblDrv.c:9715: assert(_gidxRegister[index]>=0)^[[m

The router serve one desktop (WXP P) and 2 laptops (Vista and Mac OS) . The desktop is runing 24/7 with IIS and Utorrent.

Maybe the router need a firmware update or something?

    I have the same problem but installing a new firmware does not help.

The router need a firmware update and re-configure it you get it after then your router will not hanging

If the only light you have on is the power light, it is most likely dead. You try unplugging the router then plugging it back in to see if this clears the issue. If it does, the issue will probably come back. Your best bet is to replace this router.

Hi,i am having edimax br-6204 wlg wireless router and i am facing problem sometimes RTD reaches more than 2000ms & getting request timed out in between.I am suspecting WAN port speed is not matching...

Hi best is to choose 100 full duplex you may find this setting in web base router page by typing username admin and password 1234 this is default if you not changed it find WAN setting if there is option you can change it to 100 Full duplex most of the Routers has auto sense features than can do for you should you need any help please contact me

Edimax br6204wg wan led doesn't light up and there is no internet connection

Hi yaminmagdi,

I believe that you are trying to get connected wireless using your Edimax Router, we may need to check some settings in your Edimax regarding the wan light not lit up and could be a possible reason why there is no internet connection.

1. First we will need to find an Ethernet cable for us to be able to connect your Laptop directly to your Edimax Router for us to be able to check and change any settings needed to enable your Edimax wireless connection. also make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected to the Ethernet ports behind the Router not the WAN port then the other end goes directly to your Router.

2. Once connected directly to your router from the Laptop open IE or any Browsers on your Laptop, in the Address bar type in then press Enter this will prompt for a user name and password, User Name will be ' admin ' and the password should be 1234 unless you changed it.

3. Inside the Edimax setting page click on the Tab that says Wireless, check and see if the wireless is enabled if not then enable it or turn it on, after enabling / turning the Route ON save the settings by clicking on Apply or Save then it will prompt that the Router is restarting it will be 30 seconds to apply once the 30 seconds is up that should be done check your Edimax if the WAN light is already lit up, then you can try an connect Wireless from your Laptop.

My router hangs up every 5 minutes


You first may want to try updating the firmware of the router.

If this does help you may want to reset the router back to factory default (you will lose all current custom settings)

I am a novice with computers, but just had a Brighthouse "Lighting" modem installed. It goes straight to my RV042 router, which goes to the computer (and also a Mac Airport...better range than the modem)....

Check to See if u Cud reduce the traffic between Modem and Router
In Router u have a option MTU Size
try too Reduce it a Little and Observe

Edimax BR 6104KP will not work with Vista Business

you need to download the latest driver. Check that first. Download it and go from there. Edimax phased out lot of there products with Vista!

How to change dns

I am not familiar with Edimax, personally...however, you can find out a lot of information by understanding a bit about the computer attached to it.
It's a home network
You are running a Windows machine
Your windows machine is connected to the Edimax router
Your Edimax router is also your default gateway

drop to a command prompt (start, run, CMD, enter)
Type ipconfig and hit enter
This will get you your IP address of your local machine as well as the subnet mask and the default gateway.
Once you have the default gateway, you can connect to it via Internet Explorer. You will need to set it up as (where the IP address is your default gateway)
At that point, you will need your router password
Once you get in, you can then poke through your settings and manually change the ones you need.

My edimax prob.

Use the setup wizard under Internet Explorer - (go to: Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Setup) Choose the right connection after the setup... close the IE browser and reload it... If it doesn't work... you have to set the IP and DNS to Auto.... keep me posted if your still have problems.

Slow internet

If you have 3mb, you have cable internet right? If so, the cable company cuts your speed off if you download too much over a certain period of time. My cable company confirmed this. I can download all I want from midnight til noon, but after that... They will cut your speed off if you download more than a certain amount. You can call them to find out what the amount is.
