I have a "dinosaur" type E-Machines monitor,I've

That sounds like a picture tubeproblem and because to the cost of these old monitors it is cheaper just to buy a new flat screen than to try and repair that old one.

My desk top pc monitor is flickering and a buzzing noise is coming from the lead in the back of the monitor and keep getting a pink tinge to the screen.what is causing this.

It sounds like your thin screen monitor's fluorescent (ccfl) back light or associated "inverter" is going to fail very soon.

If either fail, the screen will be black. If you look close - you'll see images on the screen - but because the fluorescent lamp or inverter has failed, there will be no back light source.

You can replace the lamp, inverter or both yourself - or you can send it out for repair. Usually, the yourself route is the only financially feasible option - unless the monitor is a large, expensive type. You should google your monitor's make and model along with "ccfl" "inverter" to learn the options available to you.

Good luck!

I have a compaq desktop, winxp sp3. white has turned pink

The monitor needs some minor repair and alignment that's all

If you are any good with electronics and have a bit of decent test gear lying around you could probably do this job yourself.

But if not then a local TV or computer repair shop will be able to handle it and it should not cost too much.

Its a common problem on older CRT type screens

Monitor screen shrinks!

The problem is due to under voltage.You may have an unstable power or your computer auto voltage regulator (AVR) is not doing its part..If not then you have a busted capacitor..resolder all capacitors and replace ruptured capacitors with same value and ratings..

The viewsonic monitor I have is not showing anything on the screen . It is only two years old. The "on" light is flashing. Please advise

Hi,

Your posted problem could indicate:
  • a faulty video card (or memory) in your PC (most likely);
  • a defective cable (least likely); and/or
  • a defective monitor.
Course of diagnosis which is at fault would involve:
  • trying the ViewSonic monitor on another PC;
  • trying another monitor in your PC;
  • checking/cleaning/replacing video card, memory or cable.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Color on monitor is pink

Hi,
I hope u have a CRT monitor. If not just post ur type.
For CRT, the reason for the monitor displaying in pink is that PICTURE TUBE MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED.
Inside the monitor there will be RGB (Red Green Blue) picture tube . If any one of them gets affected it will display in some oddcolors like in your case. So, that may be your problem.
Hope my info is useful. Bye . Take care

hello wayne,

If this is a CRT screen. . then this applies.

if you have discoloration on your CRT tube monitor (due to a magnet being place near the actual tube), (i.e Speakers)
Most new Monitors have a magnetic degaussing circuit built in the Click the Menu button on the monitor and look for "Degauss". If that doesn't fix the problem.

or check this out for more reference: metacafe link

good luck,
