I have the same problem, and it's option 2--the computer boots with the Dell screen and then immediately goes black. I can barely see the words if I tilt it. I did nothing--NOTHING--to this computer to cause this. Help!

My screen also goes black a mere seconds after turning the laptop on.

Went into diagnostics and error says cannot turn off lcd lamp (or something to that effect).

I can see a little bit if i tilt the laptop... so I reformatted the thing (was due for a reformat anyway) and the same problem applies even without me installing any drivers.

can you never see anything ?
or does it show the dell logo and boots u and then in windows you cant see anything ?

if its the first thing then your monitor is more than likely given the ghost...
if its the second its windows...

    let me know

    good luck

No the hidden partions rely on the main partion to have some files still intact to complete a repair of the operating sytem then restores the files back to thair factory settings, to put xp back on you will need the factory recovery cd or dvd. If you buy a copy of xp and install it then ust eht recovery it should restore it to factory with drivers as well.

My dell inspiron laptop 1000 screen turns dark every few seconds. if I close the computer half way and open it,it stay bright for a few seconds and turns dark again

This is your back light on your lcd display, To prove that have a flash light handy when it goes dark point the flash light at the screen and you should see the screen and that would mean right there you got a back light going out or the inverter that powers it is going bad. Etherway if this is not your area of work you need to tech it to a computer tech local to have it repaired.

I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop for which I have just purchased a new 9-cell compatible battery. It worked great for a couple of hours, but now shuts off immediately when unplugged from the AC power supply....

You might want to try what I did when I had a completely discharged battery for my Dell Laptop. I attached the battery to the computer, make sure the computer is off and plug in the charger for a full twenty four hours (undisturbed). And this really worked. I had no problems with the battery. Good luck.

Laptop hangs during video-call

Go to Dell support website and check for latest video, & audio drivers and BIOS.
https://support.dell.com/support/supportrequests/create.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Check back quarterly as Dell is quite good about rolling out updates on a regular basis.

I had Dell M1210, I setup Window 7, but my Quickcam logitech did not work?? maybe the driver is not corect?? ThankS !!!

Hi,
I had this same problem as well... all you have to do is download the driver from Dell's website (go to dell.com -> support -> m1210 -> vista 32-bit), install the driver (get version 10.5.1), restart and then it still won't work. Then you have to:
1) Right click on my computer, and do manage 2) Go to the device manager and look for a missing device, and browse your computer for a driver 3) Pick C:\dell\drivers\R151795\Drivers\x32 as your folder 4) Click next and you're done! it'll work now
Good luck!
