Question about Sharp AL-1540CS All-In-One Laser Printer
I have a al-1540 cs, it scans alright. but whenever i try to print with it, the printing status window says -"pc cannot send data to printer. pls check power and printer cable connections and retry printing". it was working fine earlier, now suddenly this message, i have ofcourse changed the cables. and the fact that it is able to scan makes me think that the cable should be fine.
It seems that the computer was trying to send the data to the printer through the wrong port. i went to the control panel in windows xp, and selected printers and scanners. and added a new printer (manually) as al-1540 cs on usb port 2. it alerted me that the software was not signed, i proceeded anyways. it asked if i wanted to keep the original printer , i said yes. and the test page printed away. so i would suggest people with similar problem to keep adding multiple copies of the printer again and again on usb ports 1,2,3... etc till it prints the test page. use the copy no. indicated in the printed test page to do all your print jobs in the future.
