Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

MY cANON pIXMA 780 pRINTER, SCANNER, FAX ALL OF A SUDDEN IN NOT PRINTING RIGHT. SOME LINES PRINT AND OTHERS DON'T, BUT NOW IT'S PRINTING NOTHING. I DID ALL THE MAINTENANCE I COULD AUTOMATICALLY, BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP. ALSO, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE MY ADF FOR SOME TIME AS IT DOESN'T GRAB THE PAPER RIGHT. I ONLY USE THE CASSETTE. CAN YOU HELP PLEASE? MARGO BARR (I'M 73 YRS. OLD, SO BE PATIENT WITH ME)

    I will save your solution for future use. However, I had to call a certified Canon serviceman out and he did tell me to wash the print head off thoroughtly and I did and then it worked for a very short time. He came out and washed and cleaned the printhead copiously and then it really worked good............but then the next day it was not working again. He came out and put in a new print head, and just charged me for the part.........no more labor charge. A really good guy.

I have had the same problem which has come from the following. There are ink absorbing pads on both ends of the print head track where the print head rests when it is not in use. Over time this gets saturated with ink and leaves a small amount on the print head. As the ink leaves the print head it is "captured" by the drops of ink on the print head and nothing prints. To solve this problem I first remove the print head and wipe it clean. Then I use a lint free cloth and push it into these absorbent pads to **** up all the excess ink. There can be quite a bit so wearing some gloves can be helpful. Each time I push the towel into the pads a little less ink is absorbed. When my towel is pretty close to dry after I try to soak more up I consider it done. I re-install the print head and it works. Sometimes this takes a little bit of printing before the ink starts flowing again, but it has solved this problem many times for me. Good luck!

Do you have a dedicated telephone line or is it a shared line with answering machine or telephone? Were you able to receive and print faxes at one time or have you never been able to print a fax? Are there any error messages or error lights?

If you are not getting error codes it sounds like a basic set-up and configuration problem. Make sure the telephone line is connected properly

You may also want to check to see if you have the most current driver for your operating system. drivers and software are available here.

No blank ink being printed or received by fax.


the m/c needs the 5 tank for faxes!Is it a canon cart?The head might be blocked!Go to your printer properties and under maintanace do a deep clean!!Good luck!!

Won't print black ink text; looks like faint watermark print; ran all maintenance check several times (nozzle checks, etc)


Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.

Go to Printer and Faxes in Control Panel, Right click on the printer for which you want to change the settings. click properties, go to printing preferences there look for paper size and select A4 or letter/legal as per your choice

Prints every other line


Use the cleaning cycle first.If it completes do a nozzle check and then to align follow below.
You need to hook it up to computer to do a manual head align through the printer properties maintenance section.

Pixma MP 780 suddenly printing VERY slowly


Are you using Windows?
If so clean out your temporary files and defrag the drive.
Printers in Windows spool the job to a temporary file and then retrieves it.If the temp folder is full or the drive is fragmented this will cause your issue.

You will probably need to clean the bottom plate and/or the print head to eliminate the problem

This may seem to be a stupid question but, is it the right cartridge?

Is it a genuine Canon cartridge or an aftermarket replacement that "suits" your printer? If the latter, try getting a genuine Canon cartridge and install that and see if you get the same error message.

If you still get the same message, take it to a repairer and get them to check it out for you.
