Question about Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW Top Load Washer
My Neptune Maytag TL top loader stops when it goes unto the spin cycle. It clucks and squells and pounds on the outside so hard you can feel it and see it. It displays a code of uC. The local place I bought it tells me to big of load, then to small a load then that I have an unbalanced load I am having the same problem. i try to do another load with nothing in the washer and it stops at the spin cycle and give a UC code. There is also water left in the bottom of the washer-doesn't fully drain out.
UC means the washer cannot spin. There's a bulletin out this.
The clutch is likely the cause of these error codes, preventing the unit from spinning freely. A new clutch was introduced in production in March 2005 to improve performance and should reduce these error codes.
1. Visual verification can be made of a malfunctioning clutch by observing the lifter operation in spin. The lifters will rotate up to one complete rotation just prior to the tub starting to spin counter clockwise. Should the lifters continue to rotate while the tub spins, examination of the clutch will be necessary.
2. Inspect the 14 wire plug in the control console for loose red\white- pink- blue\white from the P3 connector. Also inspect the wires and connection point on the Tub Displacement Sensor for corrosion. Measure from PK to Wh/Bu at the P3 connector. The voltage should be approximately 1.5vdc when the tub is centered, 3vdc when the tub is pushed to the right rear of
the cabinet and 0vdc to the left front. Any variances of these voltages, the 14 pin harness connection, tub displacement sensor, and sensor connector should be checked.

The belt that turns the washing barrel is broke or off its path!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, this is a known common error. The error code "uC" indicates "unbalanced condition". The determine this condition, Maytag Neptunes uses a small shock absorber like component somewhere on the middle left hand corner behind the front panel. In reality, this is a sensor. Electrically, this sensor uses small wiring clip that could loosen up in due course of time. Pls check on this. In most instances, this strut like sensor could develop corrosion. Cleaning and application of light oil such as WD40 should do the job.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune TL Stops
I just did a repair on my FAV6800AAW by lubricating the needle bearings in the clutch pulley hub, the tub displacement sensor checked OK per the service manual check. I was getting dc/uc errors, washer was purchased in 7/05. I have basic mechanical skills and used a socket wrench to remove clutch pulley hub, just follow the service manual removal steps to remove clutch pulley hub. Pull the plastic cover off the clutch pulley hub and inspect the spring, clean/lube needle bearings and the clutch hub coupler that drives spinner shaft. I used WD40 I may need to re-lube down the road with a good light grease. It took a few tries for me to get the clutch pulley hub to stay on after re-install and power up, getting the clutch pulley seated properly is the trick. I did not remove the washer tub for this fix, I believe I saw a posting where someone did. I just leaned the washer back to get a better reach angle, it is a tight work area. I did not want to junk 3.5 yr old $1k machine with out trying a fix. If you want to work on this model get the service manual, I found it online and I believe you can order it in PDF format from Maytag. Good luck!
I just went thru my 10th load of a mix of light, medium heavy loads and all work fine no unbalance errors (DC/UC). Doesn’t fix the tangle problem :) Prior to this fix I could only run the washer with no clothes in it to complete a cycle with no dc/uc error codes.
