Hi ... i changed the battery in my phone (a1200) and it delete all my contacts -- now it won't LET me add new contacts... this has happened before and i had to send it back to hong kong to get it fixed somehow... is there i way i can do it myself??

Not sure I understand. Are you saying your MotoMing a1200 is rebooting with the new battery or what?
Have you tried charging it overnight with the phone off? If the battery is dead and you charge it with powered on it might power up then power off. Best to charge powered down if battery is fully depleted.
If your phone is still under warranty the best solution is to get it replaced.The problem is actually with the port of the charger.I mean the hole in which you plug in your charger isn't working properly.Where as your USB port is different and works properly so it charges the battery.So you will have to get this repaired.
It sounds like a bad flash or firmware to me. I would reflash to a different firmware. You can only flash to the same or a higher track with these phones, so be careful not to flash to a lower track. You could brick your phone.
You might try using Motorola Phone Tools to retrieve your contacts to your PC. You should also be able to reset the device to default settings via Motorola Phone Tools.
