Your battery is too low to allow it to operate properly, according to the manual. You can use a coin to remove the battery cover in the back to see what type of battery is needed to replace. Most drug stores like walgreens, etc, carry the watch type battery.

Hi, my N81 sometimes turns dim when i push some buttons and when i slide the screen. i dont know if its the flex because it turns to normal when i left the phone to standby or when i restart my phone.. pls...

there is nothing wrong with your screen, the problem is from the flex that connects your screen to the phone's main board. This flex must have worn out that's why your screen is not displaying any picture.

The problem is common with flip and slide phones. The flex gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the flip or slide phone.

I would urge you to replace the flex and I am assuring you that your screen will display picture again. You might also be lucky to find out that the flex is not well fix, that is, it may have loosed contact.

If you cannot change the flex yourself, maybe you should take the phone to a local repairer within your vicinity, so that the flex can be fixed/replaced.

Take care...

Can't make phone calls with my touch slide always force close. When I try to make a phone call, the screen goes black and I can't view the dialer. Please help!

The problem with the phone is the flexi ribbon thet slides the phone up and down, it is not properly seated that is why it is losing contact with the main board of the phone, hereby resulting in blank screen while dialing or making a call.

The flexi ribbon is known as the flex, so as soon as you replace the flex of your phone, it will work perfectly fine once again.

Have a repairman fix the flex of your phone, and it will be in good condition once again.

Take care

I have a G1 and everytime i try to use the touch screem it doest work.

your touch screen digitzer could be bad, if you dropped the phone or water damage was involved. Theres are cables that connect the touch screen to a lcd then to a flex cable that connects to the main board. I would first replace the touch screen digitzer.

My HP iPAQ rx3715 turns off

I can only especulate on all the possible reasons, so let go one by one throuh them and their possible solutions:
1. The RX3000 Ipaq family has a known mechanical issue on the switch that senses when the back cover lid is properly closed.

When the switch is nor properly depressed, the PDA won't charge the battery if plugged on the cradle or to the USB sync cable, or won't turn on.

Remove the back cover lid and the battery, put them back again. Check the cover lid is placed flush and that there is not any gap between the cover and the PDA body.

Try again in power it on and/or charge the battery, confirming the orange LED light is turning on.

2. False contact on such back switch.

You need to find exactly where is located the switch that senses the battery cover lid.

It's located at the right/bottom side thru the battery bay. Check that there is not dirty or dust accumulated, causing that is sticky such area, which prevents such switch to work properly.

If you find nothing obvious, you can use small pieces of transparent tape (or masking tape) and put them on the internal side of the cover lid that is in contact with the switch (you have to locate first such area), put the battery and coverd lid again, and try to power it on. You can add a 2nd or 3rd layer of tape to depress such switch.

3. Broken cover lid. Check that is not broken in any part or corne rof it. If it's so, then replace it.

4. Defective switch.

Unfortunately is necessary to open the PDA and check with a continuity (or ohm meter) the performance of such swicth, which is easy but usually a technician does it.

You have the option of send it to be repaired, or try it yourself, which will require to buy a switch part, or pulled it from a PDA with possible working switch or the whole mainboard (or the mainboard alone) and swap the parts. It requires a minimum of technical skills to do it.

Best regards,

Cracked touch screen for cingular 8125

If you have the right tools and are used to repairing small components it should be doable. there is a fragile flex cable that has to be navigated around thoough. if you not comfortable with that you can contact , the charge for that repair is $75 and turnaround time is about 1 day.

Problem with allignment

Markins- You should work for Dell. I called them several weeks ago about this problem, and they were quick to tell me that is was not in warranty any more so there was nothing they could do. I found your posting and I did exactly as you stated. My X5 hasn't worked this well in months. I sure wish Dell would pass this info on, but I guess there are a lot of people that just buy a new on.......Thanks for your help! Quote: Originally Posted by Markins This is a post I made a few days ago on the Dell Axim Forum. I still have'nt had any problems since I made the repair. ************************* I had this problem for about 6 months. I was able to work around it by pressing in on the sides. The problem progressively got worse, so I decided to open it up and see what was going on. This is what I found: The touch screen lays on top of the display screen. At the bottom of the touch screen, directly below the "Inbox Button", there is a flex cable (flat mylar with conductors). I found that the contacts from the button had scratch through the mylar on the flex cable and would short out. I suppose this would scramble the decoding from the touch screen. To correct the problem, I cut a small piece of electrical tape and laid it across the damaged area on the flex cable. I reassembled it using just the screws (I left the rubber sides and feet off) and tested it. After I was sure it was working correctly, I finished assembling it. You can find detailed disassembly instructions on the web by doing a search for X5 screen replacements. The procedure isn't that difficult, just be careful when you remove the rubber sides and feet to lift them slowly and try to keep the glue stuck to the rubber (this makes reassembly much easier). Quick instruction: 1. Do a complete backup of your unit (you will loose all your data). 2. Remove both batteries and any cards. 3. Remove the rubber feet, sides and plugs at the bottom back. 4. Remove 6 screws from the back. 5. You should be able to remove the back of the unit. 6. Unplug the speaker cable (pull straight up on the plug). 7. Lift the motherboard and screen away from the front cover. 8. Make your repair. 9. Reassemble in reverse order. Hope this works for you, I did this about a week ago and haven?t had a problem since.
