Question about Xerox Phaser 6120/YN Laser Printer

Xerox Phasor 6120 jams at top and right in middle of fuser

Just started today and paper will not come through when the green clips are in down position (envelop levers on both sides).  Paper looks like something across very middle that jams up like an accordian. When the green clips are up, the paper will come through but then prints ghost duplicate on bottom of paper.   Have not had this problem before and I have had the printer over a year.  It has been operating OK.  Any suggestions.  Also, should I get a new printer and dump this one.  If so, would the 6130 replacement be suitable option or is there a better option.

Most likely just one of the pick fingers has popped out in the fuser and is stuck in between the rollers.
You can remove the fuser and look, they are somewhat pointed fingers and are spring loaded. They make contact with the rollers and often times pop off. You want to look at the condition of the heat roller also. It is a teflon coated aluminum roller. Just check to see if the teflon coating is still shiney.
Looking at the printers if you want to replace it, I would go with the 6180. Don't go with the solid ink color, Extremely expensive to operate.

I have paper jammed in Xerox 7700 rollers and cannot remove even though I release the green lever on right side. Do I need to release something else?

The green lever you are referring to are I'm assuming is on the fuser. If the paper is jammed in the fuser and you are unable to remove it try removing the fuser and trying to remove the paper again, there are two thumb screws that hold it in. Make sure the printer has been off for awhile because the fuser gets VERY hot. If paper is constantly jamming in the fuser or you are unable to remove the paper you should replace the fuser, part number 016-1887-00 iteminc.com offers them for $$235 new and $139 for a refurb. Hope this helps, good luck

Solution : Power the Machine OFF and ON CAUTION: Wait at least 30 seconds between powering the machine OFF and powering the machine ON. Damage to the optional hard disk could occur.
  1. Press the power switch to the OFF (O) position.

  2. NOTE: If the machine is equipped with the optional hard disk, the machine remains on for approximately 10 seconds, while storingfiles and preparing for shutdown. The machine then shuts down completely.

  3. Press the power switch to the ON position.
IF THAT FAILS TRY THIS NEXT:
Solution : Clear the Paper Jam Behind Cover A
  1. Open Paper Tray 5 (Bypass Tray).
  2. Lift up the Cover A release lever, and open Cover A.
  3. Remove any paper below the Fuser Unit by carefully pulling up and out.
  4. WARNING: Do not touch the Fuser Unit, as it may be hot.
  5. If the jammed paper is inside the Fuser Unit, lower the green A2 lever in the direction of the arrow to open the Fuser Unit Cover.
  6. Push down and rotate the green A1 lever in the direction of the arrow to feed the paper from the top of the Fuser Unit.
  7. NOTE: Do not pull paper downward during removal.
  8. Close Cover A until the cover latches.
  9. Close Paper Tray 5.

We have XC865 the copier was working just fine until today. The paper keeps jamming inside. It would start to copy and then just gets stuck in the middle of the cycle. So I have to open the machine up...

Most likely a common problem of a broken fuser drive gear. This is especially true if the lead edge of the paper is stopping at the fuser assembly. This is the assembly that is hot to the touch. There is a upper fuser roller drive gear that breaks on these and causes the fuser roller to stop turning. So everytime the paper gets to the rollers it stops and a jam reults. The gear is 16.00 at precisionroller.com part number M510X
Here is a picture of the gear.

Xerox XD100 paper jamming every time.

The fuser is the problem. Most likely the fuser will need to be rebuilt or replaced.
Google a business called The Parts Drop. they have either the parts or the unit.
You may just have to take the fuser out and remove a badly jammed piece of paper in that module.
Shut the machine off for a half an hour. Remove the back cover. You will then see on the left side a black plastic bracket with 3 plugs on it. Disconnect those 3 plugs. Then open the right side door and toward the top is the fuser. It has yellow caution HOT labels on it. There are 2 silver phillips screws holding it in. Remove the screws and then remove the fuser unit and see if there is a paper in there. There are 2 screws that you can remove and the fuser will kind of fold open to inspect for bent fingers or one out of place.

Phaser 7300 Jam at Fuser

need more info.

Are you printing more than one page documents? or are you printing a single page... because that would help to know.

The fuser is the most likely culprit. But it could also be a sensor somewhere. The printer has "timing" and when that "timing" is off even a milli-second, it will say JAM. Does it only jam on one type of media, or from only one tray?

need more info.

On the fuser (under the top cover), there are 2 green levers with envelopes on them. The one on the right is probably flipped up. The purpose of these levers is to decrease pressure on the paper when printing on envelopes which are 2 or 3 layers of paper. It reduces the wrinkling that occurs when printing envelopes on most laser printers. Flip that lever down and you're golden.

Xerox phaser 6120 laser printer paper jam fuser

You can remove the imaging unit, then
Depending on the stock being used for the job, raise or lower the left and right colored Fuser separator levers. The levers will stay in the raised or lowered position on their own.
the levers are green. The fuser itself is not easy to remove.
Do you have any warranty left on the machine? Or a depot repair agreement?

Xerox 6120 printer fuser jam

Other then releasing the paper with the green levers on the fuser, there is not much other then removing the fuser, and that is pretty labor intensive on a 6120.
You have to remove the back and side covers, the 4 screws from the sides, and a connector that is pretty difficult to access.

Media jam transfer roller

We have a Xerox 6120 which is mechanically identical to the 2430. It was reporting media jams. We determined after removal and careful inspection that the fuser roller and fuser pressure roller had been damaged by what looked like someone attempting to clear a jam with a sharp object. I cannot speak re: the 2430, but the fuser in the 6120 is not a FRU. The construction of the fuser doesn't tolerate any flaws on either surface. There was more paper jammed in the fuser where we couldn't see it until we had the fuser out of the printer. We are shopping for a new printer as the repairs will cost more than we paid for the printer.
