Harman Kardon FL8350 CD Changer

My Changer only seams to want to read disc 2 and play disc 2. If I try going to another disc it wants to go threw its anologing procedure and then it displays, "no disc". After that I am unable to get back to disc 2 for play. the only remedy to get it to play disc 2 is to power the device off and unplug it. I believe this resets it because when I power it back up I can get it to play disc 2. I have a hard time wanting to believe this is a lazer issue when it will play. Could this be more of an anologing problem with a sequencer, or the chip? Or is this all done with the lazer. I dont want to toss it if it can be fixed for 50 or less. Its worth it to me. thanks

The screw in the center of the tray is too tight, loosen it a bit.

Try lifting the left side of the player, I tried that last night, and it behaves different, in horizontal mode it tries to load each disc before it finds that there is no disc, but when tilted it just scans the slot (with som optical sensor) and finds the slot empty without loading the disc

Most likely a belt has stretched and will not now move the tray. This happens of units more than 2 years old usually.

You can try a cd cleaning kit in attempt to bring it back to like, if this fails the cd pickup assembly will need to be replaced, a costly venture.

The drawer in our Harman-Kardon HD 950 CD player won't go all the way in. It gets to the point where there's about an inch sticking out, then re-opens and tries again. This is a fairly new unit. Is there...

It turned out that a CD had slid past the drawer and into the case of the CD player. Once I removed it everything was fine. I should point out that mine is *not* a 5-disc drive, but a single-disc drive, model HD 950.

You will not get shocked if you stay away from the power supply, I have worked on several of these, the cd's are pilled up behind the door, remove the screws ,remove the cd's ,and hopefully you did not strip the cd turntable gear. You will know if you the gear is damaged, when you power the unit up after removing the cd's .the turn table assembly will rotate very jerky.or slow ,or It might not move at all..if so let me know i can help you with that..good luck
