Question about Kenmore 62622 Microwave Oven

Kenmore microwave 721.62649200

My problem sounds just like Wahnula's, posted 1/31/07: Downlights on microwave not working. At this point, all I know from the Q&A on Wahnula's posting is that the power supply for the lights is separate from the rest of the microwave, and from MicrowaveSvc, that the main causes are when the filaments short the power supply, etc. Does the power supply need to be replaced? I would like to determine: 1) whether this is something I can do myself; and 2) how to do it. Thanks!

I think that you should look into having a professional help you. It is the best way to ensure that the work is being done properly, and I definitely think that everyone should keep that in mind as much as they can. I know that I would be focused on that as much as I possibly could. Hopefully more people will realize this and make it work as much as they possibly can.

My still fairly new kenmore 1000 watt microwave appears to be operating fine but doesnt heat. What might be the problem?

When you hit "Start" to microwave, do the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable all come on?

Any unusual noises? Is it louder or quieter than usual?

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

Post a new help request with the answers to these questions as well as the full model number from the tag on or in the unit.

We have a over-the-range LG Microwave Model #LMVM2055ST purchased in 2006. It was working fine until today when I tried to heat something, it wouldn't start. The light works inside when you open the...

Most likely the touch panel is bad. You can try ordering a new one from by searching with your model number. If you find that replacing it doesn't help, return the panel within 30 days and you are only out the shipping costs. With what you describe, it should be the panel itself. Let me know what you find out.

Everything works exept the heat. Thought we had a power surge a few days ago?

To allow us to help you effectively (at no charge), please post a NEW problem to FixYa, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit, your symptoms, as well as the answers to these questions:

- When you try to microwave are the inside light, internal cooling fan and turntable all working?

- Is there any unusual noise or is it louder or quieter than normal?

(A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can be bad without that sound.)

We have a sound clip here of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

My Kenmore microwave Model 721.62463201 is making a clicking noise. It sounds like it coming from the control panel. It is constant but the microwave works fine.

If it's under warranty, I'd suggest returning it.

You can also contact Sears for service whether it's in or out of warranty.

If you or a friend want to try to diagnose and fix it, we may be able to help if we can hear it if you can post a video with sound.

Lost heat on microwave ,everything else works fine simple fix?

Inexpensive fix yes, but quite dangerous as you have to either replace the High voltage Diode or the magnetron depending on what has gone. Most often it is the Diode as that is fed a few thousand volts and anomolies such as a surge in current cause it to blow(popping sound) You can also check the fuses and if lucky it is just a fuse, but a fuse very seldomly just blows as it points to an underlying fault such as magnetron , capacitor or Diode. Have a service man attend to it unless you know what you are doing as you are dealing with lethal voltages and current even after the microwave has been switched off.

Is there any burning smell after you try to heat with the microwave?

In most cases of no heat with a loud noise, it's a bad high voltage diode or magnetron.

Posting that video may help if you get the sound clearly.

Disabling the beep on a Kenmore microwave

I have Kenmore microwave model 721.61820100.
It has an "Option" button. Press it. The display say "NUMBER"
Then press "1". The display should say "SOUND" and then "OFF".
Press "Start" and that beast turns silent, well not really, but the beeps are goooone.

If for some reason you don't like it this way repeat the sequence and the sound this time will turn "ON".

Microwave humming

It's possible that it is a sign or trouble, but it will make seemingly odd noises when it is switched on and off. For the most part, you can wait until you see more definitive evidence of trouble. Watchful waiting is probably in order here for the next week or so.
