Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies
My c5180 printer died and the software was left on my xp system. Bought a c6280 printer with a duplex unit on the backside. Installed the s/w and tried to print photos. got frustrated and deleted the "driver" for the c5180. the c5180 came with HP photosmart premier photo s/w which I like. the c6280 came with photosmart essentials 2.0.1 which i do not like. every time i print a photo on the c6280 it prints over the perforated tab line no mater how the paper is inserted into the printer tray-tab in or out. i disabled the duplexerprinter properties device settings. i tried specifying the paper has a tab, and just plain 4x6 paper.
After 3.5 hours with HP controlling my computer, I finally asked if thec6280 has "auto sense" which determines whether the paper in upsidedown or rightside up. The c6280 does not have "auto sense". Maybe thatis the problem. Each time I print on tabbed photo paper, the printeralways leaves a half inch of white at one end of the paper and alwaysprints over the tab, even when the paper is inserted tab first or tablast into printer.
Anyhow, I gave up trying to print tabbed photo paperon the c6280. HP technical support has no clue what is wrong ifanything. If I print on plain 4x6 inch photo paper the print is just asI like. If I print on the tabbed photo paper with the tab removed andthe "tab" end entering last, the printer leaves a half inch of white atthe end of the paper that exits first. If I print on the tabbed photopaper with the tab removed and the "tab" end entering first, theprinter prints just as I like.
The c6280 has "paper type mismatch"issues with the tabbed photo paper with the tab removed. The c6280reads the markings on the back of the tabbed paper and un-tabbed photopaper. The problem is in how the c6280 reads the markings on tabbedphoto paper when the tab is attached and when the tab is removed.
Un-tabbed HP photo paper is hard to find in stores.
Well, that is mystory and I'm sticking to it.

It is for sure a matter of settings ..so you have to select the paper type ..and the dimensions ..and also the position ...landscape or portrait ...and after that go for the print..Also select the paper type and size in the printer if it has the feature for it ...It is safer to select there too ..cause from computer you have to make it each time and you may miss something ..
If it is still making problems ..just reinstall the printer 's driver and software from scratch ./..(remove the old one ..and reinstall a clean version of the software ) This way you will be sure it is not an software error..
