I have this same problem with my Mitsubishi 82 " tv. No audio through hdmi - regardless of what is connected there. It definitely is an issue with the tv. Still trying to find the answer......

Dell laptop connected to yamaha reciever via hdmi no picture or sound?

This has to do with your video driver on your laptop that needs updating.
go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update
download any updates from here.shutdown laptop, check the cable connection from laptop to tv then restart.
If still no luck try another hdmi cable

How do i get laptop onto tv?

Set it on top of the TV, use glue if needed ;-). Just kidding...

Well, if both your laptop and TV have an analog video port, you can use that. Or, if they both have an HDMI and/or DVI video port. Otherwise, your probably SOL.

For the analog video port (DB9 connector, looks similar to a serial port), you will need a video cable first (see Radio Shack or similar store). Both the TV and the laptop need to be COMPLETELY OFF prior to physically connecting them together with the video cable (not necessary for HDMI or DVI) or you could FRY one or both of them! Prior to turning on the TV, the laptop's video resolution should be adjusted to the TV's native resolution. You'll also have to run sound patch cords from the laptop to the TV's audio in if you want sound (Not needed for HDMI).

You "may" need to setup the video card (either somewhere in the OS, or in the BIOS setup screen) to display to the external video port.

An HDMI or DVI port setup should be much easier to do.

Obviously, you'll need to tell the TV which port(s) to look for the incoming video/audio via your remote control (or look in TV's menu system for that).

Hope this helps, let me know how it turns out...

When i connect my laptop to the tv i get sound but no pic.

Computers have two seperate systems - one for video and one for sound.

The only computer (or laptop) connection that carries both video and sound is HDMI. If you do not have a HDMI/DVI connector on the back of your computer, then you will have to use the VGA-composite or s-video connectors to display your PC's output on an external monitor like an LCD TV.

On both my HP and Dell laptops the display settings (Start/Control Panel/Personalize/Display Settings) allow two modes - single or dual monitor mode. Single monitor mode allows me to switch between any one of three possible video outputs - VGA-composite, S-Video or laptop screen, or a split-desktop (display spread over two seperate monitors). Dual monitor mode allows the same display on any two of three possible video outputs.

Switching is performed using the fn keys on the keyboard (fn key plus the F2, F8, etc. function key with the display marking). You guys use single monitor mode until you figure out what your are doing. Select VGA-composite or S-Video.

Non-HDMI sound to your TV monitor or sound system must be obtained from your laptop's Headphone or S/PDIF jacks. Headphone is stereo and S/PDIF is 5.1 surround sound. Headphone is electrical, but S/PDIF may be electrical or optical (laser light). You must set the sound jack that you intend to use as the default on the PC control panel (Start/Control Panel/Sound).

None of these connectors is two-way in the context of an LCD monitor - your PC cannot record a TV picture or sound from the external monitor. To accomplish this you must purchase a video converter box that converts cable TV or video+sound inputs to USB format usable by your laptop. Do this and you can turn your laptop into a Tivo recorder/DVD burner using Beyond TV, Sage TV or a variety of other software packages.

I connected my DELL MINI Inspirion 10 via HDMI to LCD TV. have a good pic, but haven any sound (can play movie, but nothing voice). Check everything, no find problem. Can u help me?

HDMI is only used for Video output and not for sound, you will have to use your laptop audio out (has a pic of headphones), you are able to get headphone jack to phono (white / Red) cable to connect to TV or surround sound system or your laptop speakers.
