Cathy you may disabled the mouse touch pad as it sounds like it is causing the coursor to jump around on you. To disabled it, hit the FN KEY hold and press then there will be a photo of a mouse on one of your keys, press it to disabled the touch pad, reverse these steps in order to reactivate the mouse.

Touchpad sensitivity

You can change the sensitivity by entering Dell Touchpad utility (in Control Panel -> Mouse, if you DON'T have any external mice installed)

Maybe it is also enough to calibrate the mouse speed in Control Panel -> Mouse.

The mouse on my hp pavilion dv2195 lapton is spastic

Did you replace the batteries?
Could be a bad mouse. Do you have a friend you can try their mouse? If theirs works. Time for a new one. They do go bad. I've replace many of them!

Jumping cursor when typing

Since you have a logitech mouse, lets just disable the touchpad. You should be able to disable the touchpad via one of these methods:
  1. Look on the top row of keys. You should have one that looks like a little mouse. If you do, hold down the "fn" key in the bottom, and press the key with the mouse on it. That *should* disable the touchpad.
  2. Go to the control panel, and find the keyboard and mouse settings. Digging through the menus, you should find a touchpad. You can disable it through there.

Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mice and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad and select uninstall, do the same on the keyboard line and then restart the pc.

Both touchpad and keyboard will be reinstalled and then ready to use again as it should be back to normal
