Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

Erratic power on and off

I had my DS for over a year now, and about a month ago i accidently bent the prongs on my AC adaptor. After straightening them, i proceeded with charging the DS. A week later, the power turns on and off irregularily, usually when i'm playing! Now the power switch doesnt even turn it on or off anymore. i blame the bent adaptor, but those around me disagree. Any suggestions?

I appear to have a simillar problem! My DS Lite seemingly turns itself off, when I'm playing, for no apparent reason! Its really annoying, I have to play on my old DS. Any explanation, and/or how to fix it would be MUCH appreciated!

Thats unusual as it would indicate a permanent connection on the main board??? basically making the switch redundant. Have you tried another new supply or battery..I suggest you go for the cheapest option 1st...check battery and how its seated.. there are 2 prongs on in the battery compartment they need to be making contiuous connection with the battery. failing that and you feel confident enough to tackle a repair then you can get advice online. Otherwise send it to a reputable repairer. I hope this has helped a little

Sometimes the connector can break loose from the board, there is very little solder holding them on and this would cause erratic behavior, everything is so small that the slightest improper connection causes big problems.
lets get you fixed up.

Try using a fork or thin knife to straighten them out. Be very careful and gentle though. Maybe just take them to professionals to get it fixed, before you damage it more. Long nosed pliers also might work.

My ds lite wont read any of my games

This is a common problem.

Most of the time it is one of the little copper pins in the game slot1 that has become bent and needs to be straightened out.

Bringit to a repair shop to get sorted shouldn't cost more than €10-15.

Hi,

Not that common a problem. Have one on my desk at the moment with the same problem. It seems that the game bent two of the contacts in the card reader (ds lite game section -slot 1). I opened the slot and straightened the two pins and this solved the problem.

Be careful if you are doing this as it is quiet tricky with a good few small parts.

These ds's have a problem with tarnish as well as the pins getting bent - I can fix it for you, I have done several of these. if the pin is bent the game stays down too far after clicking in and it won't read. I takes about 20 mins to straighten it out.

Nintendo dslite wont turn on.tried charging it wit 3 different charges and it still wont charge

Ensure that you are properly recharging the battery.

1. Insert the small end of the adapter into the external extension connector (labeled "5.2V=IN") on the back of the Nintendo DS Lite, just next to the SLOT 1 Game Card opening.

2. Swing the prongs on the AC adapter until they lock into place, then insert it into a standard (120 volt) outlet.

The plug should be mounted vertically or on a floor outlet (such as a power strip).

3. Once the adapter is properly inserted, the unit will begin to charge (the orange charging light will display).

4. Once the DS Lite is fully charged, the orange charge light will go off.

Check the AC Adapter for damage (such as bent prongs or split wires). If you see damage to the AC Adapter, purchase a replacement from Nintendos Online Store.

Try plugging the AC Adapter into another wall outlet. Its possible the outlet is not working properly and has not been charging the Nintendo DS Lite.

If you are unable to get power to your Nintendo DS Lite, despite trying to properly recharge the unit, then your system will need to be repaired.

Nintendo offers convenient repairs, fast turnaround times and, for all systems repaired, a new one-year manufacturer's warranty.

the pins in the game slot might be bent (shine a light in the slot and use a needle or pin to straighten any bent pins) or the pins might be dirty. slide something thin, wet with rubbing alcohol, over the pins-lightly.

My Nintendo DS Lite keeps freezing. It will play for a bit then freeze. When I turn the power off then play it, but then freezes again! Any answers?

Try this as it will restore the DS to factory settings.

Remove the battery cover off the back of the unit. (One small Philips screw.)

Remove the battery.

Leave the system without the battery for 10-15 minutes.

Replace the battery.

Re-install the battery cover.
