Remove the hard drive and reseat it back in place, this is enough in some cases in getting it started, no change! have the hardware tested for possible replacement.

Here are all of the downloads for your model laptop. I believe you will find that the disk you need is the last one on the list.

SOURCE: Black screen NTDLR Press any key to restart

It sound like your hard drive has crashed. There is no easy solution to your problem. Here are a couple solutions. You need to run a "chkdsk". It will scan and fix file problems on your HD. To do this you can either download a boot disk like "Ultimate boot disk" or you can take the HD out of your laptop and attach it to another computer. Neither of these are easy, for the boot disk you need to have software that can burn a "iso image" to a cd and to attach the HD to another computer you have to have the proper adapter. I would be happy to walk you through either one of these, just let me know. The easist thing to do would be to contact Acer and get recovery cds then go buy a new hard drive. I would take the old one to the store, to be sure I got the right replacement HD.

SOURCE: i've been trying to restore my acer aspire one zg5

Follow etaf's instructions above, if you cannot enter the Acer recovery utility try this...

Do not press and hold Alt + F10. Do it like this... From the Acer splash screen press and hold the Alt key while constantly pecking the F10 key.

However, you want to save all of your photos, favorites folder, music etc. on an external disk or flash drive before entering the Acer restore utility above. Anything that DID NOT come pre-installed on your netbook will be lost. Once restored, always, always, always back up your system with an external disk or flash drive as you go, meaning that as you add legitimate software and personal files to your PC and your PC works normally, back it up. It's cheap and the next time this happens you can enter plug in your flash or disk run the restore, and have EVERYTHING back including the stuff that did not come on your system when you bought it.

I wnt to know how to reset the computer

Assuming the netbook is working normally, and it has the original hard drive that was in it from new, there should be a recovery partition present on the hard drive.

When you switch the machine on, press and hold the Alt button and F10 while the Acer logo is showing. This should give you access to the Acer Recovery centre. Alternatively, boot to Windows, click the start button, All Programs, Acer and Acer eRecovery Management.

Please note that factory recovery usually completely wipes any user data, so back up any important files before performing the recovery. Recovery will restore the machine to the factory installation, so you will also lose any third party software that has been installed since the machine came out of its box.

Hi

you could try this

press power on key as well as the FN+F8 key
hopefully this will take you into the repair option
which should give you several options to try to repair the laptop
i always choose the last known good configuration ist that works on a lot of problems
next i would try repair my computer if the ist option did not work

If these options does not fix your problem
you could try this next but you will loose any files or photo,s that you may have put on the laptop
so it always pays to do a back up of your pics etc on a regular basis if you keep adding them

power up and press Alt+F10
this may take you into the acer recovery management

Factory reset for Aspire one without disk and alt + F10 doesnt work

The disk-to-disk recovery may be disabled preventing the Alt + F10 key sequence running eRecovery. To enable disk-to-disk recovery, you must do the following... (do not have an external monitor attached)
1. activate the BIOS utility by pressing F2 during Power On System Test (while Acer logo displayed)
2. select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen
3. find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use F5 and F6 keys to set this value to Enabled
4. exit the BIOS utility and save changes.
The system will reboot.
5. while the Acer logo is showing, press the Alt key and the F10 key at the same time repeatedly
6. wait as Acer eRecovery starts up then follow onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Alternatively to the above, if Windows can be accessed, the recovery can be done by launching Acer eRecovery Management by running the program from the Acer Empowering Technology program group in the Start menu.

I need a acer aspire one happy recovery disk

The Acer Aspire One Netbook has a hidden partition on its hard disk drive which allows recovery of
1. operating system to original factory image (with no recovery disk required)
2. applications (selectable)
3. drivers (selectable)
If the netbook came with pre-installed Windows XP, use Acer eRecovery Management by
1. pressing start button at bottom left corner of Taskbar
2. hover cursor over All Programs then Acer Empowering Technology
3. then click on Acer eRecovery Management and follow subsequent recovery instructions
Alternatively, on powering up, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.
If this doesn't work, there is the possibility that the D2D recovery is not enabled for startup.
To enable D2D recovery,
1. press F2 on powering up to get into the startup utility
2. cursor over to the Main tab
3. cursor down to D2D and enable it.
4. save changes when exiting - system will reboot
5. again, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.

Trying to reset

Hi, it seems that the recovery partition is not working. You may have to get the Recovery CD's to do the Factory Recovery. If you have not created the Recovery CD's from the Recovery manager software, you can purchase it from the Acer website.

The Alternate method for starting the Recovery on startup is using the combination of ALT+F10 ( some models its ALTgr ) on startup.Press and Hold down the ALT( Left jand of space ) and at the same time keep on tapping the F10 key till you get the message " Windows is loading files".Just follow the On screen Instructions to start the Recovery.

Want to Recovery the complete system on my Acer Aspire 0ne 110. How can i do that?

If you have the original "product recovery" CD-ROMs, re-install Windows from those disks.

Otherwise, is there a "recovery partition" on your computer's hard-drive? If so, then you can reinstall from that partition.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.
