Question about HP Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I have an HP 4570c Scanjet that suddenly started scanning images distored with a blue yellow tint and streaks running through the page. I have tried all the "homing" fixes (shut down everything, unplug for at least a minute, hook everything back up and reboot) downloaded and upgraded all drivers available, made sure there were no monitors or speakers within three feet and about 5 other remedies. Nothing has worked. I believe with the suddeness of the failure, it almost has to be a part. Could a failing lamp cause these symptoms or would there just be no image at all? A mother board problem? It is defeinitely a problem with the scanner which strangely enough, all diagnositics I've used on it say it's "functioning properly". TIA.

Same problem here, with HP 3200 series Photosmart. I can sometimes make the problem go away by unplugging the scanner/printer for a minute and starting fresh. If I do, the next series of scans will be fine, (I typically scan several pages of documents in a batch), but if I start a new scan (click on "Scan Document" button in Photosmart software), and the yellow streaks show up, every scan in that batch will show the same streaks.

For now, I'm just continuing to unplug & reboot until it comes up clean. It's not "dirty glass" or anything to do with print. It might be illumination (unlikely, since I think it's a single bulb illuminating everything) or sensors on the scanner. Could also be a failing component on a board, since I can sometimes recycle my way out of it. At the risk of stating the obvious (it isn't obvious to me), asking for a greyscale scan instead of a color scan avoids the problem, which is okay for many of my documents. I'm out of warranty, and if the problem goes from intermittent to solid, I'll just use the printer for printing until the ink runs out, and try another vendor's solution pack.

This is driving me nuts, too on my HP d135 multifunction. I hate to give up a working (albeit old) printer/copier/fax because the color scanning goes, but I haven't room for a separate scanner.

Would love to know the fix for this.

Scanner error code

This generally indicates a driver error.
Download and run the Scan Diagnostic utility
  1. Download the HP Scan Diagnostic utility .
  2. When prompted, select Open or Run to start the download and run the installer, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Try the scan again.
The Scan Diagnostic utility checks the physical connection between the device and the computer and address the issues with the following components of the scanning software:
  • PML (Printer Management Language)
  • Yellow DOT4 entries
  • Scan Folder
  • Registry Mismatch
  • HP Digital Imaging Monitor
  • Multiple HP Digital Imaging Monitors
If an error condition is identified with any of these items, a red X ( ) appears next to the item. If there is no error condition, a green check mark ( ) is displayed next to the item. The utility is equipped with a Fix button to correct the error conditions.
Run the Unexpected Internal Error and Communications Failure patch
  1. Download the patch for HP Image zone/photo, imaging unexpected internal error and communications failure.
  2. Double-click the patch to install it on the computer.
  3. Try the scan again.
Try scanning without HP Imaging software
Try to scan with the built-in feature of Windows operating system called Windows Image Acquisition (WIA). To perform a WIA scan, follow these steps.
  1. Make sure the product is turned on.
  2. Click Start , and then click Control Panel .
  3. Click Printers and Other hardware , and then click Scanners and Cameras .
  4. Look for an icon for the product.
    • If there is not an icon for the product, click here to uninstall and reinstall the software .
    • If there is an icon for the product, click the icon, and then follow the on-screen instructions to scan images or documents to the computer.

HP Laserjet 2820 Streaks on Page

Hi,

There are 3 parts to the imaging process that could cause your issue. You have the toner (x4), the imaging drum unit (Q3964A) and the fuser unit. If you are getting streaks from all colors, one or more these parts are the issue.

Let's start with the easy stuff:

Open the cover as if you were replacing toner where you can "visually" inspect the toner and imaging drum. Pull the drum out and pull back the "plastic shutter" on the top, this will expose a green drum CAUTION! Too much exposure to light and touching it can cause damage. Just take a quick look trying to see if any of the lines on your page match any marks on the drum. Check the bottom half of the unit as well there should be a white section across the bottom, expect that as well.

Next look at the toner, if you can look at any other color but black it will help you look for the streak marks a lot easeier. If you couldn't see any streaks on the drum on toner cartridges, it's time to look at the fuser unit. Power the machine down and turn it around, unplug it then fold down the blue clips and CAUTION! the fuser heats the toner to the page so if it's been used recently it may be hot. once the clips are down, just pull straight back and look for the streak marks.

Sorry for the book, but I hope it helps.

My HP3030 scanner glass is dusty on the underside

Yes you can. Just be careful not to force any movement of the scanner lamp. Be gentle. Otherwise you have nothing to fear.

Color print qualities issues

Perhaps you've tried, but check to see if your printer is printing color using the PS driver or the PCL driver. If you are using the PS driver the colors will not print correctly, but this is the best mode to print black and white since it will save your drum life and print faster.

Hp laserjet 3055 all in one

It was not the laster jet 3055 problem at all. It was the program that I was trying to run the scanner through. Seems as though the previous employee destroyed the program and that is why it was showing only lines when I would try to scan anything. Thank you for your support. Love hp products.

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.
