Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have an HP 4570c Scanjet that suddenly started scanning images distored with a blue yellow tint and streaks running through the page. I have tried all the "homing" fixes (shut down everything, unplug for at least a minute, hook everything back up and reboot) downloaded and upgraded all drivers available, made sure there were no monitors or speakers within three feet and about 5 other remedies. Nothing has worked. I believe with the suddeness of the failure, it almost has to be a part. Could a failing lamp cause these symptoms or would there just be no image at all? A mother board problem? It is defeinitely a problem with the scanner which strangely enough, all diagnositics I've used on it say it's "functioning properly". TIA.

Same problem here, with HP 3200 series Photosmart. I can sometimes make the problem go away by unplugging the scanner/printer for a minute and starting fresh. If I do, the next series of scans will be fine, (I typically scan several pages of documents in a batch), but if I start a new scan (click on "Scan Document" button in Photosmart software), and the yellow streaks show up, every scan in that batch will show the same streaks.

For now, I'm just continuing to unplug & reboot until it comes up clean. It's not "dirty glass" or anything to do with print. It might be illumination (unlikely, since I think it's a single bulb illuminating everything) or sensors on the scanner. Could also be a failing component on a board, since I can sometimes recycle my way out of it. At the risk of stating the obvious (it isn't obvious to me), asking for a greyscale scan instead of a color scan avoids the problem, which is okay for many of my documents. I'm out of warranty, and if the problem goes from intermittent to solid, I'll just use the printer for printing until the ink runs out, and try another vendor's solution pack.

This is driving me nuts, too on my HP d135 multifunction. I hate to give up a working (albeit old) printer/copier/fax because the color scanning goes, but I haven't room for a separate scanner.

Would love to know the fix for this.

HP ScanJet 4670 - yellow lines or streaks in scans

You have a dirty glass. Take a lint free cloth and water and wipe the glass making sure you leave no streaks behind. Sometimes you have to take a flashlight and examine the glass. Just a little spec, the laser will drag all the way down.

If you are under Windows 7 , it's because HP doesn't produce anymore drivers for your unit beyond VISTA .
Download the latest driver available from here : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=77368&
and try running your scanner with it . If you don't succeed , try in compatibility mode .
If it still doesn't work please don't blame me , blame HP .
Best regards .

Pls check your color Scan settings. Generally there will be some color difference between the original and scanned Image because, the original is 'reflected light' whereas, the scanned image is a 'source light' on the monitor. The monitor setting can also affect the color output. S. Mohan

Hp scanjet2300c scans have a yellow tint and black patches.

The best way to check if the scanner is okay or not is by installing on another computer. First try B&W, then try color. IF it works may be your OS or driver (of the old comp) is corrupted.
