Question about Arris SB5100 SURFboard DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem (50120900100)

Modem disconnects from the internet

When online my computer will show to me that the internet is not working then 1 second later it will. This effects computer games such as World of Warcraft and Warcraft III. This is because while playing every 1-3 minutes it will "disconnect from the server." I have tried different computers on the modem and they all have the same problem. So it is not the computer. The game will show good ping until just before it shuts down. So id like some ideas.

have you protected the network? the reason you are having problems could be that poeple are stealing your network connection and slowing everything down.
    Post back please

Ok then, you have your network secured and all runs smooth exept when playing games online, you have to upgrade your router to a better one, but before you do this just unistall and reinstall the drivers to see if you get a better connection

    regards

I'm getting good internet signals to the modem, but am unable to connect to the computer. Any idea why?

How are you connected? USB or Ethernet from the Modem to the computer? Do you have other internet devices on your network? Vonage (Internet Phone Box), Another computer, Gaming console.

If you have 1 device connected - then reset your modem by removing the power cord for 10 seconds.
Replug your power after 10 seconds. Then check and see if your computer has a connection.

If you have many (2 or more devices) on this network then get a Router. and Newegg.com
You can connect as many devices to a router, but the modem will only be one..

These are the most simplest possible solutions. Otherwise contact Motorola. Your Internet service provider could check your modem for signal and communication problems.

Online light blinkin in motorola sb4200

1- Disconnect the power at the back of the modem.
2- Disconnect the internet cable at the back of the modem (the cable from the wall to the modem).
3- Wait at least 2 minutes.
4- Connect the internet cable back.
5- Connect the power cable back.
6- The lights on the front of the modem should start turning on one at a time; the top one first, the second one next...

If the on-line light still blinks, you might want to repeat the steps above after shutting down your computer. Turn on your computer if the on line light is OK (not blinking).

If all fails, call your internet service provider (ISP) to see if the service itself is down for maintenance, or if there is a problem with high-speed internet in your area.

If you have a router, you might want to power it off before trying the steps above. Turn it back on when the on line light is OK.

Usually, I call my neighbor who has the same ISP to see if their internet is down, before I call the ISP company.

Hope that helps.

Linksys issues

It's clear that the router has lost its connection through the modem since there are no computers that can get online through it. Either the router lost the right settings or the modem is not online. have you tried to bypass the router and try the internet through the modem and check the internet connection? What is the brand or the model of the your modem from verizon?

How to connect linksys router with aztech adsl modem

To setup your router
first check..
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online,
to setup connection..
Step 1:
Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Step 3:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4:
check if you are able to go online wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,
to config your router i need some more information
your internet service providers (isp)name , and how many computers do u have totally..
