Most likely one of the contacts are bent in too much from an attempt to insert the card incorrectly. You need to unbend it back to align with others. It can also be a problem on the main board, firmware malfunctioning. Buy on ebay as is camera with broken lens, it will cost you 20 on ebay, take the main board out of it and replace the part if contacs fixing does not help, sell the good LCD and you will get your board for free, because LCD will sell for the money you spent on the as is camera. Or you can keep it for yourself in case you brake your LCD.

On an SD card there is a switch at the side which can be moved to protect the card contents (locked) or permit writing to the card (unlocked). Just move this to the unlocked position.

The Canon A430 uses MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

sounds like the memory card needs to be reformatted. you would need to put it in a laptop or desktop and reformat the memory chip that way.

I have a memory card error on my canon powershot SD 1200 IS. It says " memory card is locked. How do I fix it ?

Your memory card is an SD type. These cards have a little switch on the card that can write protect or "lock" it. Take the card out of the camera and check this switch. To unlock it, it should be moved towards the edge of the card which has the electrical contacts.

Canon PowerShot SD 630 Digital Elph "Memory Card Error"

Hi,
I'm sorry to tell that PowerShot SD 630 does not support SDHC cards over 2 gig.
If you want the camera to take a card over 2 gig then you are stuck standard SD cards.
The other camera does support the card because it's a higher model.

Regards.

Locked memory card

Hi there,

Your camera is telling you the lock switch on the card is locked.

Take the card out of your camera and look on the side. There will be a little switch. One side of the switch says locked and the other side says unlocked. Move the switch from the locked position to the unlocked position and it will work for you.
