Question about Sony DVP-NS775V DVD Player
I have the same problem as the others. My DVD Player does not play DVD's any longer. I believe it is the laser pickup. In the old days, you could find a diagram of your unit and order a replacement part (in this case, the laser pickup) but nowadays, only authorized Sony Service Centers seem to have access to the information. If you can identify the part, it's easy to order replacements from this website: http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/productSearch.do The problem is getting access to the information. If you tell a authorized Sony Service Center that you want to buy a new laser pickup for your DVD player, they won't look it up for you. So the industry is protecting itself. Does anyone know how to get access to the list of replacement parts (repleacement level, like the laser pickup assembly for instance--not resistors and diodes) for DVD players, specifically for Sony DVD players?
SOURCE: SONY DVP-S7000 does not play DVD
All reviews that I am reading confirm my belief. It is a 1st generation DVD player and therefore will be hard pressed to play any newer DVDs. Think of it as technology advancing. It's sad but it happens. Even newer DVD players can not play the types of movies being developed today. i.e. BluRay discs. So if you cleaned it and you can play picture discs chances are you're going to have to sacrifice which movies you can watch and search for those it will play.
