Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera
As far as I know, the autofocus (AF) light is needed only in lower light conditions to illuminate the subject.
You may not be able to rely on it working without having good light available so you should try some shots in poorer light to see if it is really not working before depending on having in-focus snaps.
If you don't use it in low light conditions, you may not miss it.

I think I may have burned out the light because the indicator for the AF light is still showing up on my LCD screen.
