Question about Palm Treo 700w Smartphone

NO SOUND FROM MAIN SPEAKER

Since today, my TREO-700WX main speaker (not the Hand free one) stop working. When I'm in a call, people can hear me but I CANT hear them until I have to switch to HandFree speaker mode or plug in my earbud handfree kit. I have opened my unit and checked / cleaned the 2 contacts of the speaker ear module on the board. No results. I have performed an HARD RESET, nothing! I've notice that when turning ON/OFF the Wireless mode, NO more TREO Jingle sounds... PLEASE HELP! Is there a risk that the speaker module is busted? Any ways to get parts for this phone whitout getting SCREWED by the service carrier flat charge repair cost?

My Palm Treo has just developed the same problem. My phone only works with a ear piece and mic plugged into the jack. Hands free works sometimes, the phone is only 8 months old. By the number of posting I have seen on this iisue I believe Palm has a real problem and they need to be held accountable.

A couple weeks since first posted... I've ordered an ear speaker module from CHINA folks, and believe or not it wasnt the problem. I solve my problem simply by plug and unplug repetely the ear bud hand free module into the phone jack! The problem is from the internal electronic switch that detect the plug. Visibly not repairable out of replacing the logic board at high cost. On my side nothing will ever go in that hole for a while! Enjoy!

I had the same problem. I plugged in the Treo earbuds repeatedly and "jiggled" it a bit. That fixed it! Apparently the problem resides in the earbud jack as another mentioned.

have the same problem but jiggling the ear plug in the hole didn't help. took it apart and nothing looked wrong, so now don't know what to do.
tried the sound switch on top too, nothing. damn

Would you believe my problem (no sound) was solved by shutting off, then turning back on the sound slide button at the top of the phone? I think it was kind of in-between when the sound wasn't working, just ever-so-slightly, though - not really noticable til I went to shut it off, then I realized it didn't seem totally 'on'.
Good luck!

No speaker no sound on my treo

I had to have my Treo swapped once already because of a problem with the headset jack. The same problem is happening now - the phone always thinks the headset is plugged in (even when it isn't). That results in phone ringing (unless on virbate / silent mode) but no audio through the speaker in the back, and no speakphone icon appearing.

Given the symptoms you describe I would go to your service provider and (hopefully) get support under warranty - very likely hardware related.

Problem in hearing in normal usage

Probably the ear-speacker is dead. Cause when you turn the speaker phone mode it uses the main speaker on the back of the phone. You'd better bring it to warranty service. But firstly try doing like this: while the device is off get the battery, the sim-card and the microSD out. Then return them to their places and turn the device on. Sometimes it helps.

Treo 600 can't hear without headset

Try blowing hard on the spot where the headset plugs in. I have this same issue on my treo and a good burst of air will at times bring back the speaker/microphone.

Main speaker not working

Just press and hold the "phone" green buttom for about 2 seconds. The main speaker is enabled. The same procedure works when during a phone call, to enable a hands-free operation, or when listening to windows media player.
