Question about PC Desktops

More info needed

Hi there--you responded to a question I posted on this site regarding my Dell computer. Basically, the disc drive is no longer recognized by the computer at all. It's not listed anywhere and the whole D drive is not anywhere to be found.

Your suggestion was to right click on My Computer and click "eject". Where in My Computer? I've gone to My Computer and looked for that option under CD/DVD and any options like it.

Can you tell me more?

Thanks much!

Our DVD drive no longer works. When I go to "My Computer," it is not even listed anymore. I think it was the "D" drive. Any advice on how to get it recognized and working would be greatly appreciated!

When i press control f11 to restore my computer it does'nt respond do anybody have any other option for me?

Did this computer come with a recovery disc(s) or is F11 your only option for recovery?

If you didn't get a disc then you probably have a recovery partition on your hard drive. If this is the case there is a good chance your hard drive is failing or has failed. This would also wreck your recovery partition. Your best bet would be to replace the hard drive and order a recovery disc set from Dell. They cost anywhere from $15-40 and you can order them on their site or call them.

I would like to figure out how to format my hard drive. I have viruses on there, and it won't let me delete them, or run ANYTHING on my computer.

Hi,

Dell pcs manufactured before september 2004 will need a recovery disc to restore it to the factory settings..
In case the computer was bought after 2004 there is a factory image saved in the hard disc.
As soon as you turn the computer on press CTRL+F11 KEY together or CTRL+F12 KEY together.
You will get a screen to do a factory restore.
NOTE-ALL DATA WILL BE LOST IF YOU DO THE ABOVE MENTIONED STEPS BUT THE COMPUTER WILL BE NEW AGAIN.

If the above mentioned steps don't work or the computer is older that sept 2004 you will need a WINDOWS Operating system disc depending on your operating system Eg-xp,vista,win7 or you can also use a recovery disc which is usually provided by the manufacturer which is DELL

Hope this will fix your problem. If not please reply

Thanks and regards

I want to pull info off a hard drive & put onto a disc.

Hi,
If your new computer doesn't accommodate the drive then you will need a three and a half inch hard drive enclosure to put the hard dive in from the other computer.
You will have to look at the drive to work out which type enclosure you will need.
It will either be a SATA connection like this >>>>
3be7131.jpeg

Or a IDE/ATA connection like this >>>>
60d4e19.jpeg

If you compare the connections on these examples you will one has plastic connections and one has brass pin connections.
As soon as you know which type of drive you have you can then proceed to purchase an enclosure.
When you have got the correct enclosure all you have to do is install the drive and connect it your new computer.
You will be able to access the drive, copy your data and use the drive as an external hard drive.

DVD drive will not respond to any form of media inserted into the drive. My computer is a Dell inspiron 530s. I'm running Windows XP

did you install the driver of your motherboard?if so,you need to download and install the dvd decoder for your media from the manufacturers site. if you cannot play even cd, the problem is in your dvd drive.if your dvd drive comes with a driver then you have to install it.actually there are more solutions to your problem try follow the solution I've mention first, and if its still not working post your reply and i will give you another solution.

Flash drive no longer can support readyboost

Hi

I need a bit more info to properly respond to your query regarding Microsoft ReadyBoast feature in Windows Vista and 2008 Server.

1. Has this particular Flash disk ever work?
2. How much free space is on the flash disk?
3. Is the Flash disk connect to an onboad port or a cabled port?
4. If this is a new device, does it support USB 2.0? What is the transfer spec from the manufacture?

Regards
Mike

Web Cam

Your disc must you converting from ISO format to UDF format; the same systems can read that (WIN and MAC too).
You can do it with the Nero burning program, with the menu "create UDF disk".
Otherwise you must convert your files what contains the cam's drivers to *.dmg format,MAC os can read it too.
Hope,that will helps to you.
