Go into your BIOS. Look to see if the wireless is enabled there. A lot of computers get into the BIOS by holding down the Delete Key when the computer is first starting. Follow  the instructions on the screen from their.

Looking to connect to a Verizon hot spot with my 4300. Specs say it has wi fi but can't find it in the control panel

right click on "my computer" and click on "manage" after the console opens, click on "device manager" in the left column and after that on "network adapters" in the right one. If there is no wireless network adapter listed there, you don't have one or it's not properly installed (in that case, there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it, open the pc and write down the type of wireless card, download the drivers from the manufacturers website and install them) or it's disabled (a red cross (xp) or a down arrow (vista, win7) is over it, enable it by right clicking on it and choosing "enable")

I need to know if this model is compatible with any wireless router or modem

You will need to buy an expansion card to enable wireless. Your machine has 3 PCI slots for this purpose. I recommend you buy a G or N card since these are the latest. I personally would pick the N since is a better format, but it all comes down to your budget. Since a wireless router must support the card in order for it to enable connectivity. So make sure you have a router that will support the card you buy.

IS MY PC WIRELESS ENABLED? I JUST BOUGHT A PACKARD BELL UTOW-SAN, HOW DO I FIND OUT IF ITS WIRELESS ENABLED AS MY ROUTER IS WIRELESS. IF NOT WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE IT WIRELESS ENABLED?

You can check your pc if its wireless enabled if you have a wireless adapter installed on your system with the necessary drivers, if you dont have the device, then you have to purchase a wireless adapter from the computer shop and install its device driver in order for it to work. If you have a hardware and have the driver installed, you go to control panel and network connections if you have windows xp, you should configure it to get ip from your router in order for you to get connected to your wireless router, and also you make sure that wireless is enabled on your router when you configure it.

I've installed my wireless router, modelwrt54g2v1, and the yellow ethernet cable is still connected to my laptop, once I remove it I have no connection?

The yellow cable (CAT5) is giving you your internet connection
you will need to follow some steps:
1) Access the routers GUI (usualy by going to a web-page in your Internet explorer EG 192.168.0.1 check the manual)
2) make sure that wireless is enabled on the router + DHCP is enabled
3) at this stage set wireless security here as well (to stop unwanted use of your broadband and people hacking your PC)
4) make sure that the laptop wireless is switched on, sometimes there is both a physical on/off switch and a software/keyboard enable/disable button, disconnect the Yellow network cable
5) go to control panel:network connections
6) right click on the wireless connections icon and then view available wireless networks
7) if you see your network then highlight it and click connect
8) enter the security password (if any) which you set in step3 above.

let me know how you get on

I don't know how to enable the wireless on a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1196

If you're running XP
Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections, Right Click on your Wireless and Select 'Enable".
If it's a physical switch on the laptop then you need to turn it on. Check the sides of the laptop.
