You may have a virus problem, hard drive has to much junk files, and a defrag is in order. Go to www.download.com Type ccleaner and install the program and run the cleaner, when finished install malwarebytes anti-malware from the same location and run a full scan after definitions have been updated. Finally install smart defrag from the same address and run it, keep in mind all this will take some time but should make a huge improvement if you follow the outline and it is free.
download form bootdisk.com "XP Boot" and burn to cd in an .iso (bootable) format.
boot from the cdrom (you may have to go into BIOS and look for a "boot priority" option to allow you to boot from cd, to acess BIOS, hit "escape" and then either "F1" or "F2" as soon as you turn it on). run fdisk /mbr from the XP Boot cd. with this tool, try to repair the mbr. if that does not work, you need to use this tool to erase the mbr and reinstall windows.
The Toshiba M3 laptop has an Intel Pentium M 2. 13 GHz processer and 512 MB (DDR2 SDRAM) of memory (although it can support up to 2048 MB). The 36cm XGA TFT LCD screen supports a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768. The internal hard drive can store 80 GB of data. The weight of the laptop is around 2300g and the Lithium ion battery lasts for around 3. 2 hours from a full charge. This laptop has a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 PCI Express graphics and has Headphones, Sound card and Speaker(s) audio outputs.
if you go into safe mode (F8) on boot-up, does the graphics show up?? If so, it's the graphics board/chip on the MB. I have one and have the same problem - no amount of loading drivers, re-install BIOS, etc. would help. sometimes it works, but most times when you start up, shows the Toshiba logo, and once windows starts, goes to a black screen.
boot from bootable cd and when prompted press F2 to recover using recovery cover. you will enter to console and type on the console : chkdsk /f /r after finished reboot your computer
This isn't a bios problem, this is an operating system problem, and most likely a hard drive problem. Do a system repair with your restore or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, the reformat the hard drive using a full NTFS format, not the quick format, and install a new operating system. If the drive will not format, or you have any issues during or after the format and install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.
If you move your laptop screen to were it works sometimes and doest work other, it sounds like it could have a loose connection in the ribbon cable. Most laptop lcd screens are connected to the main board through a brown looking ribbon cable. if this cable has become loosened, then yes it can be a DIY type job.
if you attempt to take the laptop apart, i sugguest you keep a record of what type screws go where.
