Your washer does have the clips, take the putty knife and find where the console meets the top of the washer, slide the knife in straight on both the rt and lft side you will feel the clip, push back in the knife and lift that side of the console. It should lift up, once both sides are loose console will tilt back. Lid switch will be on back left side. On thing to check before this is done, make sure hing screws on left side are tight. If hinge is loose the back side won't activate the switch
Disconnect both hot and cold water line from the water inlet valve. Mark the hot and cold so you don't get them mixed up. There are 2 philips head screws at the back of the machine, holding down the console to the cabinet. One in each rear corner. Slide the console forward slightly and tilt back. There are 2 metal clips that hold the cabinet and top to the back panel. Use a screwdriver and pry both clips up. ( pay attention on how to put the clips back). Disconnect the harness to the lid switch. Now stand in front of the cabinet and tilt forward towards you while pulling forward. Cabinet should slide forward. Once the cabinet has been separated fro the back panel, lift the lid up. On the right side of the lid you will see 2 screws. remove screws. (theses are the screws that secure the lid switch to the top). Now go to the back of the cabinet at the opening and look in the corner where you just removed the 2 screws, You will see a green ground wire screwed to the cabinet. Should be a 5/16 screw. (not 100% sure). Remove screw. there are 2 small clips holding the tubing for the wire harness in place. Popping both clips out should release the lid switch. Now disconnect harness holder from the top of the cabinet by pressing in the plastic clips at the side. Pay attention to the direction of the plug. Put the new plug in the same direction as the one you removed. Once you have inserted the plug and it snaps back into place, thread the tubing back behind both metal clips and clip those back in place. Secure the ground wire back to the cabinet. Now mount the lid switch back to the cabinet. You can do this with the lid up. Secure both screws into the lid switch. Close and open the lid to test the lid switch. You should hear a clicking sound. Now its time to put the cabinet back on.
Standing in front of the cabinet, tilt it forward towards you and line it up with the base frame. Tuck the front bottom lip on the cabinet under the lip of the base. Make sure that the tabs sticking up from the base lines up with the bottom of the cabinet. Be patient, may take you awhile to get the cabinet back in position.
Slide the back panel forward back in place. make sure it tucks into the back of the cabinet. Once its in place, now you can reinstall the two metal clips that secure the back panel to the cabinet. reconnect the harness to the lid switch. Tilt the console back down into place inserting the tabs on the side into place on the cabinet. Once in place slide the console backwards into place. You can now put the 2 screws back that hold the console to the cabinet.
That should do it. Plug the washer back in and start using.
Hello, On that stack washer/dryer the wayto get to lid switch is remove diagonal panel between washer and control panel in the back of washer top will either be 2 brass colored clips or in the very back egde of top will be 2 5/16th inch hexhead screws for clips place a small screwdriver in front of that clip and pop clips off and slide top forward for the screws remove screws from behind top in the left/right corner..pull top forward a bit and lift up a little the plug for the lid switch will be in front right side..squeeze the release for that plug, unplug swicth plug then remove top
in both cases lid switch asm. will be on right side of top on the underpart of it
Remove the screw on both sides of the control panel . Pull the panel foreward and tilt back . Unplug the plug coming out of the cabinet and using a flat head screwdriver , pop the clip on both sides thru the slots closest to the front of the cabinet . Tilt the whole cabinet foreward . Do not try taking the lid off the washer .
Sounds like a lid switch problem most likely. When closing the lid, slowly lower it and listen/feel for a "click" when the lid is about 3 inches from being completely closed. If you don't, then you have a broken lid switch.
The model of washer you listed, TAWS800JQ, has two different possible lid switches and you get to them differently.
To get to the lid switch, you need to remove 2 screws that hold the control console in place. There is 1 on the left and 1 on the right of the console. They can either be on the front side and easy to see, or on the back side. Loosen those screws so that the console is free and you can flip it up and backwards out of your way.
One type of lid switch can be seen on the left side after you flip the control console up and back out of your way. There is just a little clip that holds it in place. The lid needs to be raised in order to remove the lid switch. Unplug the wiring harness and replace.
The other type, do this: Then use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the brass spring clips on the left and right side of the washer that hold the front/sides/top on. Unplug the lid switch in the middle of the washer top and then you can remove the wrap-around cabinet. The lid switch is under the top and is held in place by clips and 2 screws.
remove the 2 console screws one on each side of front or they may be on the back of console, flip it up and you will see the lid switch jack on the washer in the middle, unplugon the washer side you want two cut the 2 outside and wire nut them together, this will by pass the lid switch, plug back in,put console back and you should be good to go-mike
Use a putty knife to push the spring clips in where the top of the front panel meets the washer top, about 2 or 3 inches in from each side. Front panel pulls forward and lifts off pegs, revealing two 1/4 inch drive hex screws holding top to side panels. If your washer has the lid switch near the front, push the tab on the back side toward the center of the switch and push switch up, then twist 90 degrees and pass switch back through the opening. Now lift washer top at the front side. Most washer tops will unhook from the back side now, but some need to be slid an inch to the side yet to remove once the top is lifted a few inches. If you model still has the lid switch near the back of the washer opening, lift the top at the front and unhook the back of the washer top, pull the top forward a few inches and unplug the lid switch disconnect block. (two wires)
ck lid switch earlier modes had switch on right of lid opening later it was moved to left rear hinge area ..those on right just replace those on left first ck hinge screws on left be sure they are secure listen for click when closing lid..no click raise lid push on hinge arm on left side toward rear of washer slightly try again still nothing remove console screws on rear of console lift and roll console back ck switch on left side may be broken if so replace
suspect bad lid latch there is usually a 4-6 delay after washer stops before latch will release anything much longer proably lid lock ..remove 2 screws bottom front panel front drops and comes off switch is on right remove screw each side of top lift up 2 screws hold latch in place remove wires and screws and replace latch
U WILL NEED TWO TOOLS TO DO THIS JOB.A PHILLIPS AND A FLAT SCREW DRIVER.YOU NEED TO OPEN THE LID AND REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS THAT ARE LOCATED ON EITHER SIDE OF THE LID SWITCH OPENING.YOU THEN NEED TO LOCATE THE TWO SCREWS THAT HOLD THE CONTROL PANEL DOWN.ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN VERSIONS OF THE WHIRLPOOL TOPLOADER THEY ARE IN THE FRONT OF THE CONTROL PANEL WERE ITS VISIBLE ENOUGH TO YOU.REMOVE THEM AND LIFT THE CONTROL PANEL UP AND BACK.YOU WILL NOTICE TO CLIPS ON EITHER END OF THE TOP REMOVE THEM WITH A FLAT SCREW DRIVER ALSO REMOVE THE WIRE LUG ON THE RIGHT SIDE.YOU WILL THEN NEED TO REMOVE THE CABINET BY OPENING THE LID AND PULLING IT TOWARDS YOU IN A SLIGHT UPWARD POSITION.NOW THE DOOR SWITCH IS LOCATED ON THE CABNIT IT SHOULD BE SMOOTH SAILING THEREAFTER.TO PUT THE MACHINE BACK ITS THE SAME WAY YOU REMOVED IT.AS FAR AS A PICTURE THERE IS NOT MUCH AVAILABLE.GOODLUCK.MOHAMED
