Many folks have found that a defective relay in this mower to be the cause of the "stall when i take my foot off the clutch" issue. The relay is connected to the safety switches which turn the mower off when no one is in the seat, etc.
It could be the brake switch bad, if this model came with one. When it is depressed it will start, but when it is released it may not be switching to stay running.
few reasons will try to narrow down first start it and put in neutral and deck disengaged release clutch if bogs then fuel problem the carb may need adjustment or repair or fuel filter needs replacement----if no bog step on clutch no put in gear release clutch if bogs check drive belt -upper belt on engine pulley and check for binding an idler pulley problem -debris -or rear unit binding -needs service-drive pulley damaged-rear locked--if not bogging in gear step on clutch engage deck release clutch if bogs need to check deck -belts-pulleys -mandrels -bearings and for bent or binding blades good luck
If the engine feels like it is being choked, then something might be catching or bound up...for example the blades may have been installed improperly and will not rotate. Make sure that you can rotate the blades by hand...if not they may have been tightened and are binding against the mower housing.
If there is no engine choking...then it may be electrical for example a bad fault switch...take it to your mower shop.
when i release the clutch nothing happens in forward or reverse gears
