Question about Dishwashers

Dishwasher Problem... Hey, I'm sorry I can't seem to find this information anywhere else. I'm having a similar problem with my dishwasher (also a kenmore quiet guard) and I wanted to try to clean the filter. I'm not sure how to remove the lower arm of the dishwasher. There is a kind of plastic-screw in the middle of the lower arm, is that what holds it on? I'm afraid to try twisting it because I don't want to break it. How did you get it off of yours? I hope I'm not bothering you! Thank you, Jessica

My dishwasher fills with water, but only a little is coming out of the bottom arm, and none out of the upper ones. I suspect the filter is clogged and attempted to remove the lower arm but the plastic wing nut type thing in the center just spins around so I didn't get very far. So if you could help me get the arm off, then I'm sure I need advice in the rest of the procedure.

    Thanks,
    Mike D.

You are right. The plastic screw needs to be removed. I have a Quiet Guard 4. My procedure is as follows:
1. Remove baskets. Need to pop off the 'keepers' at the ends of the top slidding shelf supports.
2. Remove bottom washing arm. Unscrew (Gently but firmly) the centre post. Lift arm assembly out.
3. Remove overhead conduit. One screw at back, one at top.= (Philips #2 bit). Rotate whole assembly 45 deg right (Clockwise) and lift off of centre post.
4. Remove centre post (Pull straight up). Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit). Lift the whole plastic assembly out. Pop off the screen and clean,
5. Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is one screw at the left front (Star T-15 bit). Remove screw and cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove cutter and filter (this is the water blocking problem). It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter blade foreward and lift the filter disc straight up. Clean thoroughly. I ran a 'quick rinse' cycle with everything out to chean the inside.
Reassemble.
Hope there is enough of a similarity to be helpful.

Frigidaire dishwasher fills but then the motor is not running for the wash cycle

Hey Gary, thank you for your inquiry!
From the information you have provided your Frigidaire dishwasher fills with water and then the motor will not run to complete the cycle. This could be an issue within the control panel or motor of the dishwasher. Which lights are flashing on the control panel of the dishwasher? Can you provide me with your model number as well? Once I have that additional information I would be able to assist you. -Matt

Standing water in dishwasher

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that you have some standing water inside of your Frigidaire dishwasher. It is a normal operation to have anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of water inside of the tub of your dishwasher. If it is anything more than that you could have an issue with the drain pump or drain line.

You may want to check the drain line for any restrictions or clogs that could cause improper siphoning from your dishwasher. You should also make sure that the filter located in the bottom of your tub is clean, that could cause water to stand within your dishwasher. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Kenmore Dishwasher 665.13193k902 blinking clean light

Most likely a problem with the temperature sensing that lets the dishwasher heater run without turning off. Not sure why the thermal fuse does not cut in to protect the heater.

The information on this site should help narrow the problem.http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Dishwasher/28-6-878055-/Kenmore-Dishwasher-lights-flashing-or-blinking-66513193K902

I have a GLD 4456R00CS dishwasher that is maybe 6 months old. It seems to cycle properly, but has never really cleaned the dishes. This is the worst dishwasher we've ever had (over 25 years) and I'm...

Sorry you have had so much problems with this dishwasher. Before you "take it to the street" please check one more thing. I have had so many people say similar problems.
  1. Check that you are using rise aid if their is an adj. set it to 4-5
  2. Make sure the soap in the dishwasher is a name brand. Dollar store soap will only get white film and poor results
  3. Everyone should run there sink water for at least 2min before you run the dishwasher making sure the cold water is flushed from the line and hot water enters (better wash and shorter wash times)
  4. Water entering has to be at least 125 degrees always.
Also run a bottle of Dishwasher Magic once a month to clean out your dishwasher.
This should do wonders for your cleaning results. Have a super weekend!

Leaking Kenmore Elite at the right front of dishwasher

Sorry to hear of your plight. My advice is to ask for a new machine under the lemon law since they cannot get it fixed. You can also try calling Whirlpool who is the manufacturer but they are likely to tell you to work with Sears. They were out under warranty and it has not remained fixed so the warranty should carry through since you called for service while still in warranty. I feel for the tech because it is frustrating to have a problem that you cannot find a cure for be the tech should also have escalated it to the tech support line for resolution. (I was a Sears tech for 21 years)

Kenmore Ultrawash Quiet Guard 5 making buzzing/grinding noise

I have a very similar dishwasher, with a very similar problem. I fixed it by removing debris from the water evacuator pump located towards the front of the bottom of the machine (the last motor before the drain hose. In my case, grape stems had clogged it up. Once emptied, it purrs once again. NOTE: don't disassemble the motor, just flush it out, there is an o-ring gasket that is a bear to re-install.
