Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My hp 5610 will not send or receive fax.

When I attempt to send fax I hear a dial tone with static AND I hear some talk radio station! Really I do. I connected another fax machine to the same phone line with the same phonbroadcast.e cord and no problem, sax went through without static or the mystry radio

First, make sure that you are not trying to use a digital line, even with a line scrubber older modems will work when newer/faster ones don't. Secondly, make sure that you don't have to hit a code to reach an outside line, etc. These can be setup to type automatically and the two modems may not both be setup the same way. Finally, the music/radio noise needs to be coming from somewhere, so I would compare it to your on-hold music, see if you can get it on an analog phone by changing the area code etc. A fax is not a radio reciever, if you find out where the music is coming from you are one step closer to knowing why.

No dial tone on handset. can't send or recieve fax.


? Other equipment, which uses the same phone line as the HP All-in-One,
might be causing the test to fail. To find out if other equipment is causing a
problem, disconnect everything from the phone line, and then run the test
again. If the Dial Tone Detection Test passes without the other equipment,
then one or more pieces of the equipment is causing problems; try adding
them back one at a time and rerunning the test each time, until you identify
which piece of equipment is causing the problem.
? Try connecting a working phone and phone cord to the telephone wall jack
that you are using for the HP All-in-One and check for a dial tone. If you do
not hear a dial tone, contact your telephone company and have them check
the line.
? Make sure you have correctly connected the HP All-in-One to the telephone
wall jack. Using the phone cord supplied in the box with the HP All-in-One,
connect one end to your telephone wall jack, then connect the other end to
the port labeled 1-LINE on the back of the HP All-in-One.

Check the connection between the telephone wall jack and the HP All-in-One
to make sure the phone cord is secure.

splitter and connecting the HP All-in-One directly to the telephone wall jack.

sending or receiving a fax.
Make sure you use the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One. If you
do not use the supplied phone cord to connect from the telephone wall jack
to the HP All-in-One, you might not be able to send or receive faxes. After
you plug in the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One, run the fax test
again.
After you resolve any problems found, run the fax test again to make sure it
passes and the HP All-in-One is ready for faxing. If the Dial Tone Detection test
continues to fail, contact your telephone company and have them check the
phone line.

None of our faxes are going out and we receive error number 87


set the fax so you can hear dial tone... if no dial tone then check the fax line.... if fax line plugged in... plug it out of the fax and plug into a phone... if still no dial tone then change fax cable... if dial tone... then call your cell... if static... fax wont work call phone company... if you get a funny signal call phone company...

Can not receive or send fax. When I send a fax, it says no answer, when I try to receive a fax, the other side hear it was ringing on and on, but they did not get the receiving signal.

HP 5610 All-in-one can recieve faxes but not send, when sending a fax i always get the busy tone. connot understand why, recieves faxes prefectly.


Have you set for the proper dialing? there's a choice for pulse or tone dialing, you probably need tone dialing. Also the number needs to be put in just as you would dial on a phone.

If the recipient side is ringing, then the problem is on their end. It sounds like the receiving fax is not set for auto-answering a fax call. A receiving fax machine should pick up and start to attempt the reception even if the fax number is dialed from a normal voice-only telephone; the receiving machine has no idea if the caller is a fax or a regular phone. It should pick up regardless and start to negiotiate the fax (that's the high-pitched whistling sound at the beginning of the call).

How I can recive fax


If you can receive you should be able to send. Is the setting on your printer on tone or pulse dialing? I have a 5610 and just plugged it in and started playing. Can you let me know if it dials and if it does what sounds do you hear? If it dials the problems might be related to the tone and pulse dialing. If it doesn't then let me know what and how you installed your software? Is it connected to a PC or stand alone?

How to send a fax


there should be a command that allows you to SKIP that part. you put the document in, dial the fax number, and when you hear the tone, press send.

No dial tone detected


It may be a bad modem on the copier. Plug your phone into the auxillary phone port on the copier and see if you get a dial tone. Also make sure that your cord from the wall is plugged into the line port and not the phone port.

the 5610 will send & recive with comcast try to do the test from the unit itself. Try to send a test fax to HP 1-888-473-2963 it will send you a return fax
