The paper in the printer keeps jamming in the back cover and looks like a crinkled fan. We have no problem getting it unjammed, but the problem keeps happening. We are using the same type paper we have always used. We have changed the drum and toner and nothing seems to work. This happens approx 1-15 times a day. Thanks Yvonne

Sounds like you might have a broken feed gear inside the paper path of the printer.

How many copies are on the unit? When was it last serviced if ever?

There are a couple things which can do this. First, I would try getting some rubber renew. This is a solvent so use it sparingly on the rollers, but this will make them tackey again and remove paper dust which makes them slip over time. Secondly, there is also a small sensor area in the back you can see when you open the panel in the back. Small chunks of ripped paper can collect here and are not easily seen, you can usually blow these loose with canned air.

There is a paper jam...how do I unjam it

Hi dorothyhover,

Here's how you would clear paper jam from your Brother HL 1430:

1. Remove the paper cassette completely from the printer.

2.
Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

3.
Open the front cover and remove the drum unit assembly.

4. Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

Do not remove the drum unit assembly with additional force at this time if you cannot remove it easily. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper cassette.

5. Open the rear cover and pull the paper towards the back of the printer, the fuser may get dirty with toner powder and may result in toner scatter on the next printed page or pages. Print a few copies of the test page until the toner scatter on the printed pages clears.

6. Close the rear cover and install drum unit assembly, close the front cover.

Hope it helps.

Lexmark Optra C710 keeps on having paper jams

Make sure the rear door is properly seated on it's hinges. Also look for any burs in the plastic guides that the paper might be catching. If you see any burs, try to smooth them out with a nail file or something.

Mt HP Photosmart C6380 keeps wadding up the paper and gets jammed. It then says out of paper and when I clear it and press OK, it crinkles the paper to death. Please tell me how to fix this. There is...

Hp printer paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

The paper crinkles and jams. I have opened the from escape door and the paper feed through OK but does make a tick on the leading edge of the paper 2 1/4 Cm from the right edge. It looks a though there is...

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

When trying to use the scanner to make a copy of a document. The paper jammed, how do you remove it? It said on the glass window to remove the back where the ink containers are. I did that but I cannot see...

There are possible 2 places for the paper jam, either the Feeder has jammed or from the input tray.
For Feeder, you just have to open the feeder from the top and see if there are any pieces sticking in.
Else, you can open the print head cover and look for pieces of paper jammed in it.
Another place you may see is by removing the rear of the printer, it is called a duplexor which can be taken off easily. You may find some bits of pieces in rear of the printer.
To avoid getting another jam, try to keep the paper in a cool and dry place. If the paper absorbs any humidity, it starts crumpling which results in paper jam. You can also try fanning the papers before putting in a bunch and use a recommended paper for the printer.
Hope this helps.
Cheers...

Printer keeps on jamming

could be improper bond weight or thickness of paper, too much paper in the tray, or the wheels on the feed rail inside is broken or needs to be cleaned

I have unjammed printer - still says that there is a paper jam

If you have removed all drums, fuser, transport belt, cassette and duplexer if fitted and ensured there is no paper, and turned off and on printer whilst disconnected from pc, and it still instantly comes up with a jam, then I'll tell you where it is... open front cover, in center,front.. there is a cover a little bigger than match box, it clicks off, under here is your jammed sheet , people tend to just rip out the jam, and leave behind a small section of the paper, that you cant see, unless you look very carefully or remove little cover to expose it.

Paper will not feed correctly, keeps jamming up.

There IS something stuck in the feed path. If the paper starts to feed and then crinkles on the feed side, there is an object stopping the paper moving forward.

Lay the machine on it's back and take a sheet of very stiff card (A5 size approx) and push it through the paper path in reverse. So start where the paper would normally exit and push the card in. You may need to lift the pinch rollers just behind the print head by hand to aid the card through. Keep the card to the side that would normally crinkle but beware of the paper sensor flag. If you force it you could break it off.

Once you get past the pinch rollers behind the print head, push a little further then start to move the card in and out but along the length of the rollers. You should find that sufficient to push out whatever is in the path and having the machine on it's back will help it fall clear of the feed mechanism.

If it does not fall out using this method you will have to remove the covers and try to remove the ASF to get at the object.
