When tv is powered on tv only displaying channel number and sound -no raster. using video mode displays are ok. sound is also ok

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Hey..i have a thick white line horizontally across the middle of the screen..how can I fix this? TV is a 50

Hello
You haven't given the exact brand name and model number to your TV here for reference. Anyway, if it is an LCD TV, check its CCFL tubes behind the LCD panel for uniform brightness. There will be more that 12 numbers of them. All of them must emit light of same intensity. OK.

4 inch horizontal black bar across my 42 inch dell plasma. tv doesnt shut off and sound ok

The thick bar you are seeing could be a couple of things - either your HDMI or any other wire your connecting has been run too close to electrical lines, or your cable incoming needs to be grounded and/or filtered. It could also be a defect in the TV.

Sometimes it will just go away.... Its hard to tell without actually looking at your setup and television.

I had this trouble, went through cleaning & realignment, then various print options. What i found was that dark colours had faint dark horizontal lines 5mm apart when printing on Photo in the epson driver. Changing it to Best Photo solved it.

Syncmaster 245B Monitor Shivering horizontal lines

Which type of video connector are you using? VGA or DVI?

If you are using VGA, the horizontal line could be due to interference, like from an electric motor (fan) near the video cable.

Other thing to try is to change the refresh rate. In Windows XP: Control panel --> Display Properties --> Settings tab --> Advanced button --> Monitor tab --> Screen refresh rate. The default ot 60Hz for LCD monitors. Bump it up to 75Hz. That could give a clue to the problem or maybe even fix it.

I turned the G2 voltage up and noticed a white screen with flyback lines, frame ok. I detected two badly soldered double diode rectifiers in the secondary part of the power supply ! I checked all other joints, and everything was ok !! success
White horizontal line (no vertical deflection)
Check / replace R548, R549
Sound but no picture except for a couple of horizontal colour lines
Replaced the frame chip TDA8356, set now ok
