Question about Pentax Optio S5i Digital Camera
I have an Optio S5i, and until recently I was very hapy with it. Now when I switch it on, I get a memory card error. If I flip the lid on the memory card and depress it right into the camera and restart, it works fine. I'm reluctant to open it to try and fix this but the quote from Jessops was 100 GBP just to look at it, a lot for a misaligned contact. Has anyone else fixed this?
I have never seen an SD card based camera with a memory card contact issue. This doesn't mean thats not whats wrong, however it is more likely that it is the contact between the SD card housing and the board that it is mounted to. Either way these cameras are fairly complex inside and unless you have good mechanical aptitude you might be taking your camera's life into your hands. 100GPB is way high for a minimum labor charge, try to find a provider who will either evaluate it for free or a low minimum labor charge. This repair would cost around 125 US total at my shop. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
