Question about Panasonic DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

Hello I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder model DMR-EX95VEBS that was purchased a little over 2 years ago and is now obviously out of warranty. Last Saturday I was attempting to record a title from the HDD to a Panasonic DVD-RAM disc, as I have done successfully many times previously, when the unit malfunctioned shortly after starting copying. A message saying something about the disc being dirty appeared on screen, which seemed rather odd since the disc is brand new. Anyway, I've tried turning the machine off and on again and checked all of the settings I can find, but now it refuses to recognise any DVDs that I insert, whether DVD-RAM or various pre-recorded discs (all of which are quite clean and in good condition). Some other points to note are as follows: 1. The small disc symbol that normally lights up when a DVD disc is in the drive is now permanently lit, whether the drive is empty or not. 2. When a disc is inserted, the drive makes one short low tone followed by four higher pitched ones and one further low tone. The message "NoREAD" then appears on the front of the unit, followed by an on-screen message saying "Cannot read. Please check the disc". Selecting the "Functions" key in DVD mode does not give rise to the normal menu options and it says "disc not recognised" at the top of the screen. 3. Interestingly enough, if one removes the disc and then closes the drive tray, exacty the same sounds and messages are produced, indicating that the drive is attempting to read a non-existent disc. I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone can offer! Yours sincerely Ben Coe

Use pressurized air to blow the dust out of it. If not it is a problem with the read write head will cost about 120 to replace.

Hello.
I had a similar problem with my DMR-ES15 a little over 2 years ago, and, I too, could not find a solution. I resorted to sending it off to Panasonic for their 'out of warrantee' repair, for a hefty price. (I could have bought new, but really liked the features of the ES15.) Panasonic repaired it, and it worked well for another 2 years. Just recently, 3 weeks ago, it died it's second death, with the same issue. I wish I had a solution for both of us, but it seems it is a failure which cannot be repaired by the consumer. I had seen a previous post, which has a suggestion of looking for '2 failed capacitors', but no other information, not even where these capacitors are located in the machine. I enterd a post myself, but have received so solutions/suggestions, and I don't even see my post on this site anymore. I'm a little disappointed with 'Fixya'...
If I find any new information, I'll be sure to post it.

What a story ! Clean your laser eye with Rubbing Alcohol and a Q-Tip. Down updates to your Recorder from Panasonics Website., and install in your Recorder. Order your replacement parts from Panasonic but I do doubt you will need them.

Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR EX95VEBS remote control only displays DVD3 how can I reset this to get back to proper functions?

Dear FixYa
Thank you for your support. I have solved the problem on my DVD Recorder by reading other peoples solutions to this problem. My DVD display was showing DVD3 and all buttons would not work. So on the handset I pressed the ENTER/OK button and no. 3 button together for a few seconds, this cleared DVD3. I was so pleased that this worked. croneruk, 6/10/2008
