How do I fix my forced air heater?

Check for sensors on the unit that might be failing. I think many heaters have safety interlock switches on them now.
Overheating... Too Hot
Position Sensor... Knock it over & it turns off.
Loose wires....
Obviously turn it off when looking inside
Good Luck

Blower fan comes on but unit will not ignite. I replaced the igniter. What is the problem?

Your off on a safety. It could be the flame rollout switch and it could be a pressure switch. What happens when you try to start it? Did you shut power to unit off.

I have a Coleman Evcon gas (propane) furnace. When the t-stat is switched to heat the furnace heats up but the blower will never turn on. The unit then shuts down and tries to cycle again. I have replaced...

If the unit fires but the main blower fan doesn't come on the the unit is shutting off on a temp high limit switch and it sounds like the problem is the main blower fan motor or control

Heater will shut off

If the burners ignite it is not the thermocoupler it may be the fan switch if they do not ignite and pilot is on it probably is your thermocoupler.

My dayton NG heater fan will not shut off properly

Sounds like a bad fan switch. The switch is located on the heat exchanger and is 110 volt bi-metal switch. Follow the wires from the blower going back to the heatexchanger. Graingers can get you a new switch if you give them your model number. www.grainger.com.

Furnace comes on Lo but no shift to High. Fan does not come on.

There will be a separate pressure switch for hi fire, make sure all hoses are connected and free of moisture and debris. You can temporally jump the switch once the inducer fan speeds up, not before. If the unit fires on high, you have a pressure switch issue. If the fan does not speed up, you may have a bad relay on the control board. If the unit is just being put into winter service, it may have a cob web restricting gas flow to the burner. You will need to check the air inlet as well as the exhaust pipe for restriction. Check on the wiring diagram to make sure that the DIP switches are in the proper position, you never know. Hope this helps.

Blower motor continues to run after burner shuts down and will just keep on running.

Most obvious thing to check is the fan switch on your thermostat. Make sure it is in the auto position and not the on position.

If the unit is maintaining the set point on the thermostat then the other cause could be a faulty control board which is not deactivating the fan relay.

I just moved in. What happens when you shut the wall switch off.

If the wall control is the thermostat, then if you shut it off, your unit will not come on at all. If there is a pilot on your heater, it will remain on unless you shut it off at the gasvalve or gas shut off valve. Some heaters light themselves when they need to come on.

Limit Switch

It is rare that a limit switch goes bad. It is a safety control. If it is shutting off your furnace there is a problem that it is protecting you from.
If the limit switch is shutting the unit down your furnace is overheating. Check the filters. Check for any obstruction in the blower assembly. Check to see if you can raise the blower speed. Make sure all registers are open in the house. Your evaporator coil could be obstructed if you do not take good care of your filters.

Replaced Fuse on Board. Unit keeps running

Sounds like crossed or shorted wire going to the thermostat. Disconnect the wire from the thermostat and see if it shuts off. If it does, it is the thermostat. Then disconnect either the white wire or red wire at the control board and see if the furnace shuts off. If it does, its the wiring. If it continues on, it is the control board. Remember you will need to tape the access panel door switch to the on position to be able to run the furnace with the panel off.
