The trouble mode electronic panel is a mystery to reset. My daughter packed the dishwasher too high and the elevators did not come all the way down causing water to seep down into the bottom pan. The flood switch rightfully kicked in and I subsequently removed the water from the pan and dried the unit out. However, the electronics will not reset and I am now at a loss to fix the problem. I see many others having problems with this unit. I previously had a tiny piece of broken glass perforate a cheap plastic piec associated with the pump causing the same leakage problem and initiating the same flood switch. Many service repair men are unfamiliar with this machine. Even those recommended by Kitchen aid as representing qualified service repairmen. I am ready to rip this unit out ($1300) and go back to a cheaper more reliable model (non kitchenaid) please help

I tried this once an it worked. Tech came from Sears an asked where fuse box was. He tripped the breaker for dishwasher. Flipped it back on after 10 seconds. Came to the dishwasher an it was like new again. He said sometimes they need a reset. If that did not work he had to replace the panel. Hope it works for you.
Hi. Pressing and holding the cancel button may reset the unit at this time,as well as, pulling the ac plug out of the wall outlet for five minutes. With that said, I will provide the proper reset sequence below.
1. Open the door of the unit slightly.
2. Within three seconds, press the following sequence in this order-high temp scrub, energy saver dry, high temp scrub, energy saver dry.
3. After the sequence, close the unit door and latch it.
4. After the door is closed, press the cancel button.
This will reset the main control, unless there is major damage to the circuitry of the control board.
Hello, push the following buttons on your control panel.......Heated dry then High temp wash, heated dry then high temp wash, heated dry then high temp wash 3 times within 5 sec you will see the control panel all light up then you should be good to go. The reason it has failed is it has exceeded alloted time to heat the water to temp selected . The best thing to do from now on is to run the water at sink until hot then start the dishwasher more so in winter than summer.
Yes indeed! If you know the measurements, you can buy a stainless panel from www.applianceart.com cut to any size you would like. THey also have a cheaper "faux" stainless option too. Many colors and designs as well.
I'm not sure if that replacemetn part would work, but I know you can get cheap stainless panels and faux stainless options at applianceart.com. They have colors, textures, seasonal, designs, and stainless steel. You can choose between faux stainless (as seen on HGTV and the Today show) or regular stainless metal. check out www.applianceart.com
Your problem is: You have a Kitchen Aid Dishwasher that has a light on saying CONTROL LOCK,of which when on you can't do any wash cycles. You tried doing canel out,but no help. What can you do to get off so can use unit?? Is there a reset button underneath that will reset unit.you are very mechanical and can pull unit apart if needed....Thanks Scott
Should not be nessessary. The lock is for keeping playfull little hands from getting into trouble. You must have inadvertently activated it. Try pressing and holding the "heated dry" button. This should deactivate the lock after about six seconds. This same procedure will reactivate it should you feel the need.

I ran into this same problem. Cutting the power didnt reset it.
After power reset, mine had the normal led blinking. If I pressed cancel, then the cancel and china button leds would start blinking too.
I pulled out the trouble shooting guide (from behind the baseboard kick panel under the dishwasher door). It that if the dishwasher wont run and button LEDs are blinking there is a short circuit in the keypad. It gave a keypad diagnostic sequence which I followed. (disconnect keypad and try to initiate the diagnostic cycle without the keypad by disconecting the yellow leads to OWI sensor twice in less than 6 seconds.
I could hear the diagnostic cycle start, so the problem is a bad keypad. Will order a new one tomorrow and let you know if it works.
