This is a common failure with these phones. Your End button is likely next.

You need a new dpad plate assembly, but they are not expensive. Search around on the net, you will find it.

you can take my word for it and goto www.cellphonedr.com as well.

My HTC Mogul keeps freezing, wont even get past the main screen when I start it up, I loaded a larger file onto it and started it up, since then it hasn't worked. Anyway to do a hard reset by hand without...

you can try a hard reset. Hold down the left and right softkeys (the two buttons above the windows button and the ok button) and use the stylus in the reset button (bottom of phone just below the sd slot) This will erase verything off your phone, but should fix the problem.

Try hard reset with phone in "OFF" state following this instructions if it will do;

1. Press and hold the TALK and END buttons, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button under the battery cover at the top
of the device.
2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the TALK and END buttons until you see this message on the screen:
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have
been backed up before a hard reset is performed.

Converting HTC PPC6800-US Cellular to Alltel-can this be done?

Yes, and No. Both companies want to see their cases on each phone (us cellular is actually blank). Alltel maintains a list of ESNs of all the phones they bought and sold in database. If your ESN aint there, they probably won't activate it.

But, the software for alltel versionof PPC6800 is located at htcamerica.com

Hi,

1 . Hold down the talk and end button together and using the stylus press the reset button on the bottom of the phone.
2. Release the reset button , but keep on holding the talk and end button till you see a message on the screen " This operation would delete all your personal information............."

HTC PPC6800 WM 6.1 alarm keeps sounding

Did you set the alarm before the update? I've heard of similar issues and the only real way to avert this alarm is to have your phone actually have an alarm set to a different time.

New to htc

The half-white screen is definitely not a good sign. The "hold and tap" screen you see is the alignment screen normally seen at a "fresh" startup.

If this is the PPC6800 Mogul, there is a small pinhole reset button on the bottom of the unit. Using the stylus, push the button, This will "soft reset" the unit.

If this doesn't work, you can try hard resetting it:

1. Press and hold both softkeys on the device. (The soft keys are the buttons to the left and right of the center navigation wheel with the white dots on them) Keep these keys pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of your device.

2. Release the stylus but keep the softkeys pressed when you see the following message on your device screen:
“Do you want to erase all user data and restore to manufacture default?”
3. Slide open the keyboard, and press R to restore to factory default or press X to exit the hard reset process.

This may take a few tries, as it's hard to hold the buttons and push the reset button.

Hang up

I had the same problem > HARD RESET worked. Press and hold the TALK and END buttons, and also press the RESET button [at the bottom of the phone], all of this in the same time.
Then release the RESET button but continue to press the TALK and END buttons, and a message will appear asking you if you really want to reset everything.
