How do I change the ''settings' on the router to work via dchp? Have a Linksys wireless 2.4 G 802.11b now on a dsl line and need to switch it over to cable modem. I can switch the wires but changing settings? How and to what? Thanks!
First you will have to log into the router (typically 192.168.1.1 in a web browser)
On the main screen you should see Network Configuration, just drop the menu down and choose DHCP. Save the Settings and reboot the router and new modem simultaneously.
If you don't have any settings saved into the router, you could also just hold the reset button on the back for 10 seconds, this will default back to original settings.
Good Luck!
simplest way to bring the router back to dhcp and to intiate connection with modem is to reset router
connect the modem and the router >> at the back of router you would have a small button tat says reset press and keep it pressed for 30 sec
tat shld do it

I have verizon dsl internet service, I am trying to install my old router to my new computer. (Both are windows XP) When I connect the router to the computer, my computer does not see the internet connection. Direct connection works fine. I tried reseting the router but still no luck. Any help would be great. John

i have a wrt54gs v7.2 that i was told had been smashed. i opened it up and found 1 of the capacitors had been crushed so i replaced it with 1 of the same value. i plugged it in and got nothing so i looked the board over real hard to find that "u6" had a chunk blown out of it. i would like to replace this and get this router in working order once again
