The bottom third of my screen shows multi-colored lines. It used to work on and off but now it never works and all I see are the lines. Apart from that, everything is fine. What is wrong with it? How can I fix it? How much will it cost me?

The bottom half doesn't show it's blank and shows multicolor lines on it.

sounds to me like the LCD is broken or damaged, but due to the low cost of a new unit these days its possibly scrap. and cheaper to buy new again.

Half of the screen is not working

It sounds like a hardware problem. You need to have Garmin look at it. Check out the terms to any warranty first. If you bought it recently take it back to the store you bought it from.

DO the Garmin receivers work with Windows ?

Yes the Garmin DPS units do work with Windows. There should be a USB cable in the box the GPS came in. The smaller end plugs into the GPS and the larger end into one of your computer's USB ports. The GPS screen should come on and show the Garmin name. Then the Loading Maps title should show briefly. A graphic should show up on the bottom part of the screen that looks like a desktop computer connected to a GPS. A horizontal white line should then appear about half way up the GPS screen which should turn to green. You should then be able to see your GPS listed as a removable drive in Windows Explorer, or whatever file management program you use.

If you are unable to see the GPS unit there is a plug in available on their website called the Garmin Communicator Plug-in which should help you see the GPS unit in Windows or your internet browser. IF you still cannot see it then try and switch to another USB port on your computer. If you have anything already plugged into a USB port and your computer can see the item, then try and plug your Garmin into that port. If you still cannot see the unit then there may be something wrong with the unit or your cable. If you still have a warranty you may want to take your unit back to the store you purchased it from. Windows should definitely see the unit without having to load any special driver.

Only see half the screen - other half blank

Anytime you have a distortion in the image on the screen, this can NOT be reolved with a reset. You have a bad LCD module. Take a look at the pictures on this page and see if one is like the problem you are having.

Touch screen is a little sluggish

Hi,
Try cleaning house on it.
Also Try the Garmin web-updater Here to keep it running well.

You could wipe all data and start again,
Backup anything you want first.to the Pc....
Hold bottom right of screen, keep pressing until it says,
Do you want to erase all data, erase it, select yes,
Re-register with Garmin, re-update,
Your good now,

Only half of the screen appears the other half shows a maze

Reads like the crystal is broken...

It is possible to have  the screen replaced in these devices, however the cost is normally above 50% of the original purchase price, of said device as the touchscreen is the most expensive part.

I never take mine out of the car unless it is in the protective case,(purchased separately) to prevent
this from happening. I've dropped mine twice. The $25 I paid for the case, is priceless given how much our 760 costs!
