Re: my maytag digital whasher machine stops when is ready...
My mah6700aww would get to 9 minutes then stop, water would not evacuate. I took the exhaust pump/motor apart and found a piece of plastic (foreign debris) in the impeller; remove the obstruction and re-installed the pump/motor; problem solved. Three bolts that hold the pump/motor in place are 12mm. Also, important to mark the top of the plastic female electrical power connection since it is possible to reverse the connection. I saved $350 min. if you do need to replace the pump/motor they cost about $150 at an appliance parts store. Good luck, Ed

Excellent info wish all post would start off like this. The first two digits of the s/n are your series number a Series 16 machineI’m an owner no expert and will try to help. I assume you have the Service Manual but just in case. FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference.Sears Parts Direct for reference. “”I can grab the drive belt and effortlessly move it back and forth-pulley spins and motor spins--Should it move like this?””
There should be slight resistance. With the front cover off and be careful of the rotating drive belt can you start a Spin Only cycle? Do you see the Motor rotate the Clutch Pulley assembly CCW? If so the wash basket should spin CCW just raise the washer top and verify the CCW/Spin rotation. If that works again with the front cover off start a Quick Wash cycle min Soil/Spin settings and observe as the washer. As it fills the wash basket will be rotating CCW don’t raise the washer top to high or you will spray water around. After the water fill the washer will start to Wash/Agitate.The Motor will rotate the Clutch Pulley CW and the Tumblers will rotate.Do you see this action. You can go into Service Mode with this procedure and dump the wash water if the cycle fails with this procedure.
I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.
Enter Service Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”
Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak keythe drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key. Thank you again for the Model number and Serial number…. other readers this is how you post an issue. Waiting for your feedback………Rich
Is the machine in Spin Cycle when this is happening? What part of the washer selected cycle does the Cycle Status LED say the machine cycle is in. If it’s in the Spin Cycle I think you have a clutch issue.Do you take any error codes to the LEDconsole display such as dC or uC?
If you stop the machine in that cycle and do a Spin Only cycle will it complete?
Do you want to DIY the fix?Let me know and I will try to help…..Rich
If your machine is a FAV6800A to FAV9800A here is the Service Manual. If it one of those machines I suspect a possible clutch malfunction. See this postfor what is involved to do clutch maintenance or replacement.
Do you have any error codes to the display if it's a FAV6800A such as dC or uC unbalance codes. Is the wash tub banging around on Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle? ……Rich
start the wash machine empty and see if it happens when nothing is in it. 2. When machine is off, open the top grab the centerpiece inside the wash machine and pull and push it slowly, does it move? (For safety unplug the machine) 3. Make sure machine is 100% level (front to back, left to right)
The most common thing is bad drum bearing, which force the wash machine out of whack when in spin / wash. Which are common and the best thing is to call Maytag.

Safety recall on MAH9700. Found it on website
Have had this trouble and Maytag has refused to address problem. Went to website above and found safety recall. Give it a try. Hope sthis helps you. Maytag didn't!
Travioso, there was two service flashes out on this model concerning the seal and bearing which means they had an issue with this washer. The howling noise you are hearing is the bearing and will need the new designed triple seal and bearing kit. This should be covered under your warranty, I believe it is 5 years. The numbers for the service flashes are TDL-0048A-B. Call Maytag and inquire about these service flashes, these should be covered. Catriver.
