ASKO1385 DISHWASHER RUNS THRU CYCLE BUT WATER DOES NOT EMPTY AT END OF CYCLE

How do I get to the drain pan due to stoppage in sump on my ASKO 1385. I looked for screws, but didn't see them. Water isn't filling and I'm pretty sure that's the reason but can't get a look.

I have the same problem - water does not empty on last rinse cycle - electrical relay gets to hot on 2nd wash and rinse and will not tell pump to empty - have to replace water pump - did you know there is a recall on the 1385 for a electrical problem which can cause a fire - there have been 21 fires - they recalled 130,000 units - the problem is in the door and has nothing to do with our problem - check on www.cpsc.gov for recall info -

Check the following to address this issue.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer or Control board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Try getting some calcium, lime and rust remover. Follow the instructions on the bottle and run the dishwasher empty using only the CLR. Check your incoming water lines for calcium or lime build up.

Dishwasher runs part way thru cycle then f2 cumes up all lights come on and draim pumps runs all the time even with door open

F2 signifies high water level. Check the drain pump and drain hose, make sure they are not clogged. Check the operation of the water inlet valve.

Unit filling with water but pumping very weakly

This is most likely caused by build up on the filters inside the dishwasher. The best thing to do is to run it thru a cycle with vinegar. To do this, empty the dishwasher, start it on a normal cycle and listen for it to start filling. When it starts to fill, open it and pour about 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon of regular white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher and close the door. Let it run thru the rest of the cycle. That should help. Run this as maintenance about every 3 or 4 months. Hope this helps!

Whirlpool Dishwasher won't drain during normal cycle

As you say a clogged line or valve does not make sense.

Try running it without the heated drying and see if it empties or if the cancel button will work then.

The dishes should air dry quickly if you empty it and open the door.

It could be a defective thermostat allowing it to get too hot during the heat cycle

Dishwasher won't empty

sounds like the hose is blocked (usually with broken glass, followed by larger food particles) that runs from the dishwasher to the sink. You may need to remove this piece to check. If that isn't the problem, it's probably electrical.
